Job Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and motivated Accounting Associate to join our team at Pieper-Houston Electric. This role reports to our CFO and will primarily assist in the day-to-day financial operations of the company. The ideal candidate should possess a strong accounting background and eagerness to learn.
Job responsibilities:
May include, but are not limited to the following:
- Performs general accounting duties as assigned.
- Completes basic data entry tasks including logging transactions and other information.
- Assists in processing invoices and verifying financial data for use in maintaining accounts payable records.
- Ensures payments are made to vendors in a timely manner.
- Support project accounting functions, including job costing and progress billing.
- Assists with tax compliance reporting and payments.
- Participates in month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries and reconciliations.
- Supports audits and maintains compliance with regulatory requirements in the construction industry.
- Assists in preparing financial reports, statements, and analyses related to project performance and overall company finances.
- Collaborates with other departments and researches information as needed.
Requirements:
- A college degree in a business related field is preferred, but not required.
- 2+ years of construction accounting experience.
- Solid understanding of construction accounting principles, job costing, and project financial management.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Viewpoint, Procore) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret and present financial data effectively.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management abilities.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with project teams and stakeholders.
