Accountant

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform accounting duties within a fast-paced finance department while adhering to established standards
• Positively represent the department by establishing relationships with our internal and external customers
• Support the department in monthly and annual closing process
• Process vendor invoices and expense reports
• Take direction from and perform duties as assigned by the Senior Accountant
• Monitor daily cash balances
• Support carrier payables processing
• Support direct bill commission processing
• Provide support for accounting cycle balance sheet reconciliations
• Reconcile third party administrator claim reimbursements
• Track W-9 for new vendors on an ongoing basis
• Maintain and prepare annual 1099-Misc reports following the tax code
• Participate in training and meetings in order to better assist external and internal customers
• Support onboarding new agency acquisitions
• Understand and accurately navigate accounting and other agency management systems
• Be attracted to betterment by applying technology
• Complete paperwork on a timely basis as established by agency standards
• Perform other duties, as assigned, appropriate to the position.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• A four-year degree with a major in Business Administration, Finance, or related field required
• 2+ years of professional accounting experience preferred
• Proficient with Quickbooks and Microsoft Excel
• Knowledge of standard accounting and bookkeeping principles and best practices
• Vendor and customer reconciliation experience preferred
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and able to quickly learn and utilize other computer applications.
• Respects the value of lifelong learning
