T he Opportunity
Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) Drivetrain provides exciting opportunities for accountants who want to be challenged and are interested in being directly involved with product business decisions. This position is in Drivetrain Consolidations and will provide support to the Drivetrain organization, which is a fast-paced, innovative, and growing global organization. This role will encourage one to demonstrate and develop communication, presentation, and financial analysis skills, along with providing avenues to interact regularly with senior management within Drivetrain and LPSD.
This Drivetrain Consolidations role will provide financial planning and analysis support specific to Drivetrain Operations, Capital, and Material reporting and analysis. The person in the role will independently perform accounting functions which require preparation, analysis, and communication of issues of high complexity.
This position will report to the Accounting Manager leading the Drivetrain Consolidations team. In addition, the incumbent will provide direct support to the Drivetrain Product Group Business Support Manager and Product Manager.
Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:
- Prepare, analyze, and communicate annual business plan and quarterly RBMs
- Prepare, analyze, and communicate monthly financial reporting and metrics
- Present and explain results to management
- Improve reporting and analysis via Axiom and Power BI
- Work across multiple disciplines outside of Business Resources, specifically engineering
- Have a comprehensive understanding of Caterpillar’s business and accounting practices, systems and procedures
- Resolve issues independently
- Participate on and lead teams
- Internal management accounting, including profit center, service center, distribution services, strategic business, integrated manufacturing, and component business unit reporting
- Coordination of purchased services and accountable target costs
- Communication of results to corporate offices
Accounting tasks are of high complexity such as business unit consolidations, system support and development. Advises and provides guidance to multiple functional areas and levels of authority. Incumbents will demonstrate knowledge and ability to handle accounting issues independently.
Basic Qualifications:
- 4-year degree in accounting OR any 4-year degree with an accounting certification
- 2+ years accounting experience

- Demonstrated excellence in leadership, initiative, accountability and superior communication skills
- Demonstrated strong analytical, planning, process improvement, problem solving & human relation skills
- Displays intellectual curiosity and desire to learn new tasks with strong attention to details
- Operations Consolidations experience
- Experience working with Power BI/Axiom
- Previous Components experience
- Professional Accounting Certification (CPA/CMA)
- MBA or Master’s Degree in Accounting (or equivalent)

- Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
- Financial Analysis: Knowledge of tools and approaches of financial analysis; ability to read, interpret and draw accurate conclusions from financial and numerical material.
- Financial Reporting: Knowledge of processes, methods, and tools of financial reporting; ability to create and maintain accurate and thorough financial reports.
