Senior Finance Manager - Commercial Governance

Job Description:The Senior Finance Manager - Commercial Governance plays a critical role in leading accounting, controls and governance in partnership with our global Commercial (procurement) leaders.  Reporting to the global Segment Controller, the Senior Finance ManagerCommercial Governance deeply understands our large global buying categories such as cocoa, sugar and dairy and the related suppliers, contracts and systems, processes, controls and governance from strategic sourcing to delivery to our factories.  The role partners with Global Commercial (Procurement) Category Directors managing our long-term sourcing agreements to ensure all accounting considerations are assessed, contracts are escalated to the proper decision-making forums, and volume sourcing and consumption is well controlled and monitored over the life of the agreement.  The role also embraces and develops new digital capabilities to better accomplish these objectives and bring new insights.The role is an individual contributor, part of our global Finance organization, reporting to the Segment Controller, based out of our global segment headquarters in Chicago.What are we looking for?8+ years of experience with focus on finance, accounting, process and controls.Several years of experience working in a large, multi-national business with a complex matrixed operating model across corporate, segment/division, regions and markets.Experience with source to pay risks, process and controls.Category experience in cocoa, dairy, sugar or nuts a plus.Strong intermediate accounting experience to review contracts and identify financial accounting considerations and risk and control considerations.Digitally savvy, with traditional tools like Excel and newer tools like Power BI.What will be your key responsibilities?Provides financial leadership and direction in partnership with our Global Commercial function on Commercial (Procurement) governance, controls and accounting related to our global sourcing categories.Partners in global sourcing strategies to bring financial support for contractual accounting considerations.Maintains and understanding of our category sourcing, contracts and vendors and supports proper governance of developing and existing arrangements.Leads robust control environment design and operation by ensuring our Internal Controls Excellence (ICE) framework is operating effectively and builds on it for unique considerations in our global sourcing.Supports monitoring of contract life-span for governance and financial monitoring of all costs and benefits.Develops digital control capabilities to accomplish objectives more effectively and efficiently.Partners across the Commercial organization globally and regionally as well as other global and regional Finance, FP&A, Controllership, GPO, Governance and business partners.Maintains and external perspective on our global categories, risks and related risk management considerations from a controls and governance perspective.Conducts analysis and review of indirect spending not supported by our global business services division.What can you expect from Mars?Work with over 130,000 diverse and talented Associates, all guided by the Five Principles.Join a purpose driven company, where we’re striving to build the world we want tomorrow, today.Best-in-class learning and development support from day one, including access to our in-house Mars University.An industry competitive salary and benefits package, including company bonus.Mars is an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability status, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
