Description
Supports the financial operations and management of the Credit Union through such accounting functions as account payables, employee payroll, daily reconcilement of change fund, item processing and other cash-related accounts.
Job Duties:
May perform any of the following:
Daily and monthly cash reconcilement
Complete government reports
Prepare financial statements for subsidiaries (i.e. Consumer Financial Services, LLC.)
Assist in investment of excess funds, including investment postings
Process account payables, fixed assets and/or prepaid expenses
Process employee payroll as well as payment and reconcilement of employee insurance, tax withholdings, 401(k) contributions, and 457B distributions
Send and/or receive Credit Union wire transfers
Amortize and balance monthly indirect lending activity
Balance and reconcile daily item processing cash letter
Process daily credit card settlement posting and perform monthly reconciliation
Balance general ledger accounts.
Assist in the month-end closings of SLFCU's financial statements.
Perform both daily and monthly activity reconciliations.
Promote the service and sales culture by maintaining basic knowledge of products and services and referring members to the appropriate person/department.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
Job Requirements
Experience and Knowledge:
Minimum five years accounting experience (preferably in a financial institution).
Thorough knowledge of accounting/finance concepts and principles.
Advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications (particularly MS Excel and Word) and accounting software; demonstrates ability to learn new software.
Basic knowledge of Credit Union products and services, features, and benefits.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or relevant field, or equivalent number of relevant classes or work experience.
