SalaryPOSITION SUMMARY: Responsible for performing various accounting activities related to leases and franchise revenue, including account activity analysis, journal entry postings, reconciliations, and responding to and resolving inquiries from internal and external customers.
KEY DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reviews franchise agreements and subleases and to ensure proper accounting treatment is applied to each contract type, including: finance versus operating lease classification and any language within the agreements with financial implications. Enters that information into the Lease Accounting system, Lucernex.
Prepares journal entries and account reconciliations related to moderately complex accounts. Works cross-functionally with outside departments to determine appropriate assumptions are being used. Identifies and researches variances, initiates corrections/adjustments.
Calculates monthly franchise revenue. Ensures that any and all changes related to rates and amounts owed by franchisees are properly captured. Performs analytics over system generated amounts to verify accuracy and completeness. Identifies and resolves any discrepancies.
Assists with the preparation of 10-K data related to leases and franchise revenue, provides data assumptions used for budgeting purposes, and other analysis
Responds to inquiries from internal and external groups, including Real Estate and Franchise Legal, Real Estate Development, External and Internal Auditors, and franchisees.
Participate in ad-hoc projects related to Lease or Franchise Accounting that may have a financial impact to the company.
Performs other related duties, tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education - Bachelor's degree or equivalent, preferably in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
Experience 3+ years of related accounting or financial analysis experience. Lease Accounting experience preferred.
Skills/Knowledge/Abilities - Strong knowledge of accounting/financial concepts and techniques. Solid mainframe and personal computer skills, including proficient knowledge of MS Office Suite, specifically Excel. Excellent oral and written English communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills. Familiarity with Lucernex Retail is a plus. Demonstrates integrity and ethical behavior.
Physical Requirements - Ability to speak/hear clearly in person and on the telephone, ability to type on a computer keyboard and operate a 10-key by touch.

The range for this position is $63,700 - $90,700 and is based on an employee located at our corporate headquarters in San Diego. If the candidate is hired in a different city to work remote, we will apply a geographic pay differential based on the cost of labor in the market in which the employee resides.
