The Opportunity: Accountant
AWWDis accepting applications to fill an Accountant vacancy within the Administration, Technology & Finance Department. The successful candidate will perform a wide array of complex accounting activities requiring an understanding of accounting operations and procedures. This individual will also perform various accounting functions as they relate to the daily operations of the Accounting Department, provide back up to other accounting related positions, and help prepare for future accounting standards and changes.
The successful applicant will have governmental accounting knowledge including familiarity with: Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), accounting, and reporting requirements. The applicant will have knowledge of fundamental mathematics, bookkeeping, and accounting principles. The incumbent will be able to interpret financial standards and prepare transactions and records in compliance with those standards. The candidate will be able to partner and communicate accounting practices and requirements within the District.
The District embraces the principles of continuous improvement, and the candidate should expect to analyze processes and make changes that enhance productivity and accuracy. The ideal candidate will be a proactive and lifelong learner, and pursue professional development and continuing education opportunities.

The pay range for this position is $40.18 - $53.84 per hour, with a starting wage of $40.18 - $46.53 per hour, depending on experience.
