Position Summary
The Walter Center for Career Achievement in College of Arts and Sciences at Indiana University invites applications for a full-time (10 month; August - May) non-tenure track position of Academic Specialist. This position will have two primary areas of focus, (1) teaching the Walter Center's primary career courses - ASCS Q295: Design Your Life and Career and/or ASCS Q299: Build Your Job and Internship Toolkit (or other similar career courses) and (2) providing individual career coaching to students in the College of Arts and Sciences. Position will begin no later than January 1, 2024. The initial appointment is three years following which the position will be considered for annual reappointment with the possibility of a long-term contract beginning in year seven. There is no promotion track for this position.
The Walter Center for Career Achievement exists to empower every Arts + Sciences student to turn their diverse talents and passions into successful and rewarding careers. The Academic Specialist position will be part of the Walter Center team and will serve a critical role in meeting the goal of career education and planning for every Arts & Sciences student.
Basic Qualifications
A Master's degree in a related field is required. Content expertise in life design and/or career readiness is preferred. Experience in career coaching, career advising, and/or teaching is strongly preferred. Candidates should have strong communication and organizational skills, and a team-oriented approach to work. Salary range is $52,000-$54,000, commensurate with experience and full benefits are included.
