Who We Are
What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Manage a roster and conduct proactive outreach and intervention activities to students on academic warning, course alert and first-year and continuing students.
- Assess students’ academic needs and aid in the implementation of a success plan addressing the cause of the students’ challenges including time management, work/life balance, attendance, study habits and other factors manifested in student academic performance concerns and develop strategies in collaboration with students to improve academic performance.
- Assist students in clarifying their values and in understanding their abilities, interests, limitations, and goals.
- Help students relate their values to decisions about academic success.
- Monitor students’ academic performance and intervene with students in academic difficulty to coach on new approaches for academic success skills and to refer them to appropriate support services.
- Facilitate academic skills workshops and group coaching for student success.
- Host drop-in coaching to support students with brief interactions during high stress times in the design curriculum.
- Be available for some evening programming to support ENVD student success initiatives.
Supervise administrative tasks related to:
- Campus Course Alert, alongside the Director of Undergraduate Education & Student Success, to collect early alert/midterm grades. Connect with faculty in the ENVD program surrounding grades, incomplete agreements and progress for identified roster.
- Organize training for academic advisors & faculty partners
- Communicate with faculty and academic advisors; and collaborating with Academic Coaches across campus.
- Engage in planning and collaboration with the full ENVD Undergraduate Education and Student Success team including regular team meetings, training, planning for programming at the advising and program level, and assessment.
- Partner with faculty, advisors, residence life, health & wellness teams, and student support offices to employ the Academic Coaching Program services.
- Gain and maintain a comprehensive knowledge about all support services and educational programs on campus and refer students to these as appropriate.
- Engage in the Student Support & Academic Coaching Campus Collaboration
- Engage in continuous training on campus policies, resources, and support structures.
- Create and edit student success resources.
- Maintain accurate and detailed contact notes, track student performance, and develop reports on the academic success and graduation of target populations.
- Ensure the confidentiality of all academic records.
- Create and assess learning outcomes and track student success.
- Support the full assessment efforts of the Environmental Design Undergraduate Education and Student Success team.
- Follow specific metrics to measure the impact of Academic Coaching.
- Proactively develop knowledge of best practices related to the growing profession of Academic Coaching through relevant conferences, mentoring opportunities, workshops, coursework, special projects and research.
- Share knowledge gained with others in ENVD, particularly the Undergraduate Education and Student Success staff, and work to ensure practices aligned with that knowledge are implemented in ENVD.
- Be a steward to the ongoing improvement of the ENVD community.

- The salary range for this position is $53,000 to $56,160 annually.
- Relocation is available within ENVD departmental guidelines.

What We Require
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis.
- 1 year of experience providing students with one-on-one and group interactions to assist in their academic success and graduation. Experience can be in a higher education advising, tutoring, counseling, case management, residence life or similar, or specifically as a high school counselor.

What We Would Like You to Have
- Experience coaching and/or advising students who are experiencing academic difficulty who are on or near academic warning or probation.
- Experience facilitating academic success workshops and/or groups.
- Experience supporting and developing intentional programming for historically underrepresented and underserved students.
