Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is a scientifically-derived, one-on-one therapy that utilizes research-based techniques to increase useful and positive behaviors and reduce those that may cause harm or interfere with learning.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The ABA Therapist/Behavior Technician (BT) and Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) will implement clinical skills instruction and behavior reduction protocols/teaching procedures based upon the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis to children with Autism and related developmental disabilities in the home, community, and school settings. The ABA Therapist/BT and RBT will work one-on-one with patients to implement goals that are written and overseen by a Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBA). ABA Therapists/BTs and RBTs help patients acquire new skills through the utilization of teaching procedures rooted in science, and by creating learning environments that are exciting, fun, and motivating. ABA Therapists/BTs and RBTs will also be responsible for collecting data as it relates to the individualized programs established for each patient.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Provide direct patient care in 1:1 and group settings utilizing a combination of intensive teaching and natural environment training arrangements.
- Follow the prescribed behavioral skill acquisition and behavior reduction protocols.
- Follow each patient's individually defined skill acquisition and behavior program protocols.
- Implement skill acquisition and behavior program protocols with fidelity.
- Correctly and unbiasedly collect and record data as defined by the patient's individualized skill acquisition and behavior program protocols.
- Assist Behavior Analysts with skill acquisition and behavior reduction assessments.
- Assist with parent and caregiver training in line with the patient's individualized treatment and behavior reduction protocols.
- Maintain patient confidentiality.
- Utilize safe and appropriate handling and guidance procedures when working with patients.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work and therapy environment.
- Maintain and acquire technical knowledge by attending required training sessions.
- Other duties as assigned.

BASIC & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be willing to undergo, and pass, a criminal history records check
- Must submit a signed sworn statement.
- Must be able to assume and maintain a variety of postures (kneeling, squatting, crawling, sitting, standing) for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to sit on the floor or stand for extended periods of time.
- Must have the manual dexterity to perform specific computer and electronic device functions for data collection.
- Must be able to be on time and physically present at the assigned job location, which may include home, school, and community placements.
- Must be able to receive and understand detailed information through oral and written communication
- Must be able to understand and accept feedback given in the moment and adjust own behavior according to the feedback provided by the patient's BCBA, an ABA Today Supervising staff member.
- Must have visual acuity to read and comprehend written communication through a computer, electronic devices, and paper means.
- Must have reliable transportation and be willing and able to travel between different job sites within the Northern Virginia area.
- Fairfax, Herndon, Reston, Falls Church, Sterling, Great Falls, Ashburn, Aldie, Gainesville, Bristow, and Purcellville areas.
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Must have current and ongoing auto insurance in good standing.
- Must have the availability to work a full-time or a part-time schedule
- Full-Time: Monday-Friday, Tuesday-Saturday, or Wednesday - Sunday work week with hours scheduled between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm.
- Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds.
- Must be willing and able to utilize quick body movements as indicated in each patient's individualized behavior intervention plan.
- Must be willing and physically able to intervene in and provide treatment for diverse maladaptive behaviors.

EDUCATION:
Required:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Education, Applied Behavior Analysis, Speech and Hearing Services, or related field. Other fields are considered on a case-by-case basis.
PAY/WAGE RATE:
- $23.00 per hour for direct services by a non-certified ABA Therapist/Behavior Technician.
- $25.00 per hour for direct services by a certified Registered Behavior Technician.
