9-12 Teacher - Summer School
Who We Are:Waukegan Community Unit School District No. 60 serves nearly 15,500 students in preschool through grade 12 and is located halfway between Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin on the shores of Lake Michigan. The District has 1 early learning center, 15 elementary schools, five middle schools and a high school program divided between two 9th - 12th grade campuses. The District encompasses portions of Waukegan, Beach Park and Park City.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
To be present with students during all instructional and supervisory times.
To provide for English as a Second Language scaffolding and Native Language Support to students including differentiation and modification of materials.
Provide instruction and support to students following a prescribed newcomer curriculum and curricular materials; implement instructional routines and learning strategies as outlined in curriculum and as presented in professional development sessions.
Plan and implement daily lesson plans utilizing the summer newcomer program. Monitor and record student progress; submit daily attendance.
Prepare the assigned classroom to encourage engaged, collaborative learning. Participate in all program evaluations including progress monitoring and required assessment(s).
Follow the daily schedule as outlined.
Communicate with parents as necessary and as required.
Provide student supervision as required during student arrival and dismissal times.
Other Duties and Responsibilities:
Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
Professional Educator License (ESL endorsement preferred).
Salary: Based on current hourly wages for teachers.
Dates: Staff Development May31 and June 1 2023
Location: Waukegan High School Washington Campus
Qualifications: Teacher Certification, Bilingual Endorsement
Required Staff Development May 30 and 31, 2024 8-11:30am
Student attendance dates: June 3-July 2, 2024 (no school 6/19/24 in observance of Juneteenth)
Session A Teacher Time 8AM-11:30AM
Session B - Teacher Time 12:15PM-3:45PM
