The Position
Genentech, Inc. seeks a Senior Informatics Systems Analyst in its South San Francisco, California location.
Duties: Within global pharmaceutical and medical diagnostics company, leading business requirements gathering initiatives within scientific/laboratory environment (early-stage drug discovery process). Designing and implementing informatics solutions that support workflows and processes for complex reagent productions (DNA constructs, proteins, including complex platforms such as bispecific antibodies). Coordinating execution of requirements for multiple IT systems by collaborating with cross-functional teams. Playing the role of Product Owner in Agile framework to prioritize and accept the work of the development team. Understanding and simplifying complex scientific business processes by engaging with Researchers in creating customized software solutions to support the work. Applying hands-on laboratory experience in molecular biology and biochemistry to design software systems from scientific user perspective and support scaling up and automation of scientific workflows. Presenting (verbally and asynchronously): requirements, system designs and associations to diverse audience (technical teams, high-level management and scientific stakeholders). Planning and executing on sunsetting legacy software solutions and replacement with new ones (including communications with end users and technical teams). Documenting systems requirements (business process mapping, flow charts, user stories and system specifications) using company accepted tools: JIRA, Miro, Lucidchart, and Google Suite.
Education/Experience Requirement: Bachelor's degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry or a related field or foreign equivalent, and 4 years of post-baccalaureate progressive experience as an Informatics Systems Analyst, Scientific Business Analyst, IT Professional, Scientific Researcher or a closely related role.
Special Requirements: Must have minimum of 2 years of experience with the following:
  • Agile and Scrum Methods
  • Software tools such as JIRA, Confluence, LucidChart, Miro, Trello
  • Biotechnology/Biologics based drug discovery process at early stage
  • Writing basic queries to relational databases (SQL-based)
  • Structure Data interchange formats (JSON)

4% international and domestic travel, fully reimbursed.
Telecommuting permitted up to 2 days per week.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location for this position of California $199,920 to $262,900 per year. Actual pay within the range will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
