Position: Financial Analyst II
Department: Accounting
Reports to: Vice President – Accounting & Finance
FLSA: Exempt
SUMMARY:
The position of Financial Analyst II is responsible for assisting the Senior Financial Analyst in ALM model management, assistance with annual budget preparation, regular forecasting/variance reporting, liquidity forecasting, cost/benefit analysis and profitability determination.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assists in overseeing the accuracy of the interest rate risk simulation model, verifying accuracy, reasonableness and consistency of data and assumptions. Responsible for the maintenance of assumptions and model inputs in ALM, Profitability and CECL software.
- Effectively work with external third parties involved in the ALM process and assumptions as applicable to ensure accurate and timely results.
- Assisting in monitoring the reporting schedule (Board, I-ALCO and ALCO) and ensures timely report preparation.
- Assist in preparing the ALLL monthly analysis and monthly entries.
- Acts as expert in understanding ALM data and the software programs used to produce management reports.
- Understands the credit union’s assets, liabilities, and financial objectives and insures that reporting requirements specified in the credit union’s ALM, investment and liquidity programs are met.
- Work with various departments in order to collect data, interpret data, and help manage the interest rate risk of the organization.
- Monitors the ongoing liquidity position of the credit union. Identifies events and trends and produces liquidity forecasting reports.
- Assist in preparation of annual budget, including balances sheet and income statement forecasts and assembly of budget as needed. Assist in compilation of budget information from various departments.
- Provide reporting and analysis to departments as needed including variance reports, forecasting reports and various ad hoc reports requested.
- Prepares accurate and timely reports and analyses setting forth progress, adverse trends, and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.
- Works with the Vice-President of Accounting and Finance or Senior Financial Analyst to produce ad-hoc financial reports and charts.
- Build and maintain appropriate profitability and product yield reporting.
- Able to assist in the preparation of the 5300 Call Report and monthly financial statements.
- Maintains adequate documentation of reports produced and sources of data to meet the requirements of auditors and examiners.
- Provides recommendations to improve financial analysis and reporting process.
- Prepare various general ledger reconciliations as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

Education:
- BS or BA in a relevant field of study (Accounting, Finance, Economic, General Business or equivalent). A Certified Public Accountant is preferred.
Experience and Other Requirements:
- Three years to five years of similar or related experience in financial institution risk management or related field.
- Excellent analytical ability and ability to conduct thorough research, interpret and understand laws and regulations, and provide workable recommendations and solutions to problems.
- Knowledge of credit union operations or financial institutions preferred.
- Must possess the ability to handle multiple, conflicting deadlines.
- Must possess the ability to interact positively with all levels of the organization, including Management, the Board, other Volunteers, coworkers, and the public to promote a team effort and maintain a positive attitude even under extreme pressure.
- Excellent oral, written, telephone, organizational and interpersonal communication skills required.

Computer Skills:
- Extensive use of personal PC required with advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must be proficient using e-mail and the internet.
Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:
None required, but CPA or MBA preferred
