Job Description
Basic Job Functions:
Responsible for the safe and successful operation of assigned production lines in compliance with quality standards, Good Manufacturing Practices, company SOP’s and corporate policy while maintaining established production quotas. Also responsible for training Line Leaders and assist the Packaging Supervisor as needed.
Schedule: Mon-Fri 11pm-7am
Payrate $20.00hr
Essential Functions of the Job:
- Report to work at least 15 minutes prior to the start of the scheduled shift.
- Follow line check-in procedures as specified in SOP’s # QA0012 and PK0008.
- Verify that the correct batch code is being printed on product by checking product drums or tanks supplying the line.
- Verify the accuracy of product coding on the Production Records as needed. Verify that all packaging documentation is accurate and coordinates QA 2nd verification occurs as needed.
- Verify that the package being produced is accurate according to customer specifications.
- Assist the Packaging Supervisor in packaging line audits as needed.
- Ensure that waste is kept within acceptable limits, offering suggestions for waste reduction, when possible.
- Ensure that all assigned Line Workers and Material Handlers are working efficiently and safely including assisting other Line Leaders as needed.
- Ensure that materials are being handled in compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices, SOP’s and current company policies.
- Operate production lines so to achieve or exceed production standards for the output per man-hour and per line-hour.
- Initiate suggestions for improvement for the operation of the Packaging Department.
- Adjust machinery as necessary within parameters of training/ability.
- Complete and affix Finished Goods tickets to pallets.
- Conduct line changeovers from one product to another and in-process/end-of-campaign component inventories.
- Complete and submit all required production documentation in compliance with cGMP and verify accuracy of all information.
- Apprise Packaging Supervisor of relevant information regarding employee performance, machinery, safety and quality
- Communicate nonconformance information to the Packaging Manager and QA group.
- Monitor the state of other packaging lines as needed.
- Interact with customers who are in attendance for line tests and new product start-ups.
Minimum Requirements of the Job:
- Possess fluency in written and spoken English
- Possess the ability to act in a professional manner when negotiating conflicts that arise on the factory floor.
- Possess the ability to discern test and inspection criteria from a written production specification
- Possess knowledge of basic mathematics and arithmetic skill.
- Possess the ability accurately and neatly record all required data
- Possess a working knowledge of the use of balances, torque meters, and vacuum/seal strength testers
- Possess strong communication and leadership skills
- Possess the ability to be flexible to changing requirements and duties of the position
- Possess a strong working knowledge of computers and electronics
- Possess a knowledge of machine operations
- Possess the ability to work effectively in high pressure situations
- Possess the ability to coordinate many activities simultaneously
- Possess the ability to troubleshoot problems.
- Possess the ability to work overtime or extended shifts as needed
Physical Requirements:
- Possess visual acuity to read, inspect, match batch codes and discern small product defects at arm’s length.
- Possess dexterity sufficient to keep pace with high speed line
- Possess strength sufficient to lift, push and palletize boxes of finished product, as needed
- Possess the ability to stand on concrete floors for full shift period
- Possess the ability to hear speech and/or alarms through plant noise
- Possess peripheral vision
- Possess the ability to recognize colors
- Possess the ability to lift up to 40 lbs
- Possess the ability to walk within the confines of the facility
- Possess the ability to bend/kneel to verify components and line purgation.
