JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for the installation of molds, machine set-up, troubleshooting activities, process monitoring, and continuous improvement of machine cycle time, efficiency, up-time, and product quality. Responsible for process change over that support the change in production scheduling and customer requirements. Reports and is responsible to the Production Supervisor.
BASIC RESPONSIBILITY
Under the direction of and reporting to the Production Supervisor, this position is responsible for:
1. Product changeover, mold installation and removal, machine set-up, process troubleshooting, continuous improvement of machine performance and productivity.
2. Monitor efficiencies, initiate improvement areas and solve problems.
3. Supporting manufacturing, as required, to maintain production, packaging, and product movement within the plant.
NATURE AND SCOPE
The position of Process Technician is an hourly position comprised of 40 hours per week. The Process Technician must possess a complete knowledge of the injection mold and stamping processes and demonstrated mechanical abilities.
JOB DUTIES
- Attends and participates in the start of shift meetings and discuss suggestions and safety issues when appropriate.
- Install molds and set-up machines in support of the production schedule and signs paperwork.
- Responsible for maintaining and improving production cycle time, product quality, and efficiency and equipment utilization.
- Identifies problems with any equipment or molds, repairs when capable or refers problems to production supervisor.
- Maintains work areas in clean and safe condition while enforcing all safety rules.
- Teams with outgoing and incoming Process Technicians to pass along process and productivity issues.
- Ensures that paperwork is completed promptly and correctly.
- Participates in the creation of quality standards. Recommends additions, deletions, and changes in procedures to improve department performance and efficiency.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by Assistant Supervisor and Production Supervisor.
- Conducts preventive maintenance on machines, as required.
- Conduct cycle time checks and downtime checks on machines and take corrective action when they are not performing at the required production standard.
- Exercise authority to stop production if non-conforming product or process problems are not resolved.
BACKGROUND SKILLS
1. High School Degree or equivalent.
2. Experience in plastic injection molding.
3. 10-12 grade math skills.
4. 10-12 grade reading skills.
5. Technical experience.
6. Mechanical experience.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $17.00 - $25.00 per hour
