Job Description

Company Description

KIPP New Orleans Schools is a non-profit network of 13 college-preparatory, public charter schools educating 6,200 elementary, middle, and high school students. For over 15 years, we have a proven track record of preparing students for success in college and beyond.

Our schools are part of the free New Orleans public school system and enrollment is open to all students.  As part of the national Knowledge Is Power Program (KIPP) network of 242 schools in 20 states and the District of Columbia, we are committed to partnering with the community to ensure that all children have the knowledge, skills and character they need to achieve their dreams while making the world a better place.  We believe that great teachers and school leaders, a supportive learning environment, and an emphasis on both academics and character are the foundation for student success, and we strive to provide these for every child.

KIPP New Orleans strives to be an increasingly more anti-racist organization, and we seek to intentionally uplift Black and Brown lives.  We recognize the importance of an inclusive environment and believe in providing programming that acknowledges racial injustices, biases and our own identities.

At KIPP New Orleans Schools, teachers, students, and families are all united around the same goal: building academically excellent schools & creating unlimited opportunities for every student in New Orleans.  We believe that an excellent college-preparatory education will set students up for success in whatever life path they choose.

Job Description

The Achievement Manager will serve as an integral member of the KIPP New Orleans Academics Team. Depending upon experience, the Achievement Manager will serve as the subject-matter expert for secondary content (English, Math, Social Studies, or Science). The purpose of the High School Academics Team at KIPP New Orleans is to work with School Leaders to drive student achievement and the KNOS academic vision. • Monitor Implementation: Co-observe with school-based instructional leaders to identify trends in implementation of the curriculum and plan effective supports.

  • Identify trends in Student Achievement and Share Learnings: Review student achievement data and student work and provide analysis of trends (and tools to respond to data) to teachers and leaders. Adjust programming to better prepare students for success in college and careers. Videotape bright-spot teachers and identify aspects of their teaching that are replicable and shareable.

Qualifications

  • A passion for and understanding of the mission of KIPP New Orleans Schools

  • An entrepreneurial spirit and demonstrated success in building a curriculum, achieving ambitious goals, working on a team, and constantly learning and growing.

  • Deep commitment to improving the lives of kids from low-income communities; knowledge of and experience working with low-income communities preferred

  • Outstanding leadership and management skills, particularly as it relates to building teams, getting people to share, managing conflict, goal setting, and holding people accountable
