Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a 2nd Shift Value Stream Managerto join the Lighting Sector Kenall Team in Kenosha, WI. The 2nd Shift Value Stream Manager will be responsible for operations with 50+ people in Metal Fabrication, Plastics Extrusions, Assembly and Warehouse, with regular hours from 3:30 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. Having a strong working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, be an advocate and strong supporter of factory improvement (VSM, Kaizen, Six Sigma, Gemba, Legrand Way, etc.). Directs Manufacturing Team Leaders and employees to ensure the most effective utilization of available personnel and equipment. The overall objective is the efficient and effective use of labor, material, tools, equipment and facilities in meeting customer requirements. Drives world class performance for Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost results.

 

What Will You Do?

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Train all employees in safe work habits, awareness and compliance with federal, state and company safety rules. Monitor and assure compliance.
  • Establish departmental safety and ergonomic goals. Ensure that monthly Safety Talk meetings are held, and documentation completed. Follow-up with Track Leaders to guarantee timely completion of safety issues.
  • Supports and participates in all ISO initiatives for compliance.
  • Manage Legrand Way (LW) initiatives including Tier 2 and Tier 3 field tours, daily production meetings (DPM), and completing LW actions.
  • Determines staffing requirements based on the production plan. Handles hiring and salary recommendations and scheduling shift coverage.
  • Manage timesheets and attendance of direct reports in Ceridian Dayforce HRIS.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Establishes and maintains employee performance standards.
  • Provides ongoing, timely feedback and periodic formal performance evaluations, per company guidelines.
  • Manage employee relations practices within the scope of company policy.
  • Sets the direction relative to manufacturing goals to meet production and customer needs.
  • Execute performance reviews for direct reports.
  • Supports EHS and CSR sustainability initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

General Responsibilities:

  • Active participation in ongoing individual training / development program.
  • Set goals and objectives with Manager; look for ways to improve quality and productivity.
  • Maintain good housekeeping conditions in work area.
  • Follow safety rules and procedures.
  • Report abnormalities in equipment, machines, programs, and processes.
  • Perform backup functions to Fabrication Track Leaders.
  • Must continually grow and support growth in department employees.

Critical Skills/Expertise:

  • Minimum five years in a manufacturing environment with a minimum of two years effectively leading others.Bachelor’s degree (B.A. / B.S.) in a related field required or actively working towards a bachelor’s degree.
  • Must have strong leadership skills, with demonstrated ability to supervise others.
  • Provide guidance, development and motivation to staff to achieve superior results and accomplish overall business objectives.
  • Requires strong organizational and time management skills and be able to effectively handle multiple priorities. Ability to work in a high volume, fast paced environment is a must.
  • Independent judgment is required to plan, prioritize, organize and accomplish a diversified work load.
  • Basic computer skills, working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and email software.
  • Must be highly collaborative and able to work in a team based environment. Must foster open communication and support an environment of innovation and creative change.
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communications skills and be able to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
