Production Line Packer Job Description
10 hour shifts Monday - Thursday, 3 day weekends!
1st shift 6am-4pm - (Training)
2nd Shift 4pm-2am
Health benefits offered after 30 days, first of following month.
Company pays 85% of single premiums.
Machine Operator
*Training is 4-6 weeks on 1st shift*
A Machine Operator must possess all skills and abilities listed below to be qualified:
- The ability to analyze and correct more difficult quality and machine problems that require a higher degree of diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
- The ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical problems that impact machine and quality operations.
- The ability to troubleshoot and take proper corrective actions to repair or correct any product defect problems that arise.
- The ability to successfully perform machine changeovers. This would include changes for product size and diameter as well as any other changes necessary to meet machine, production, or customer requirements.
- The ability to properly “train” prospective & existing Machine Operators & Back-ups
- The ability to change out or perform repairs & adjustment to equipment as needed. Including but not limited to the following equipment:
1. Roll Stands & Rubber Rolls
2. Drive chains(belts) and sprockets
3. Drive units
4. Rubber rolls, knife and receiving rolls
5. Crimper rolls, jack shafts and bearings.
6. Timing gears, chains, and sprockets
7. Stripper plates, brass bars
8. Rubber belting
9. Fittings, tubing, hoses, filtration
- The ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and repair more complex mechanical, plumbing and electrical (1 & 3 phase) problems that impact machine performance and the quality of products.
- The ability to perform any preventative or required maintenance necessary to ensure successful and continued operation of machines and minimize machine downtime. The ability to perform main belt changes with the associated cleaning & checking of machine components during these changes.
- The ability to properly “train” prospective & existing Machine Operators, Back-up Machine Operators & Advanced Machine Operators.

1. Set up & change rolls of paper
2. Start Machines on paper changes
3. Start ALL machines when they go down
4. Know allowable machine running amperage & how to properly clean and powder belts as required
5. Raise, lower & shim covers
6. Adjust clamps on covers & heads
7. PULL HEADS – Change and set knives to proper “Heel and Toe”
8. Must be able to adjust and control water flow
9. Set brakes (adjust as needed)
10. Repair or replace stripper plate Teeth or Pad
11. Know when to turn wax off and when to turn back on
12. Know when to use by-passes, clean out drums, dump drums
13. Re-bend and/or replace wires
14. Make and replace cut off knives (set in machine correctly with alignment of wire slots and depth)
15. Clean heads of starch build-up (wax if necessary)
16. Check wax pots and sprayers and know when they need filling or adjustment/cleaning/repair
17. Balance Rolls – “Wedges”
18. Know when to use plus place and remove sand blocks on belt (water off) and clean-up
Procedure & Safety
1. Know all procedures when called from downstairs on defects
2. Check nubbins and sticks regularly both at machine and drum ends (adjusting as needed)
3. Answer intercom phone professionally
4. Put waste or garbage in proper bins or gaylords as required.
5. Sweep floors & areas around machines
6. Clean machines & wax drums
7. Perform all work in a safe manner & within the “teamwork” framework of the specific shift
8. Watch out for the fellow workers when there are others helping with the machines.
9. Be familiar and understand Haz-Com Program, Lockout/Tagout Program and Procedure & all safety procedures.
10. Understand & follow all GMP/Food Safety procedures and guidelines.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $20.30 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
