TITLE
SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST INTERN - SPECIAL EDUCATION AND EVALUATION SERVICES PROGRAM
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Enrolled in an accredited Master's degree or higher School Psychologist program.
2. Enrolled in an internship class with a University Program Advisor.
3. Demonstrated successful course completion in cognitive, behavioral, and academic testing and related skills.
4. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the LBL Board of Directors/Superintendent find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO
Special Education and Evaluation Services Program Administrator
JOB GOAL
Work in cooperation with and under the supervision of a licensed School Psychologist in completing university program requirements including conduct cognitive, behavioral, and academic assessments for students, birth through 21 and assisting teachers and parent in understanding the educational needs of referred students.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties listed below are not inclusive, but characteristic of the type and level of work assigned for this position. Individual employees may perform all or some combination of the duties listed below as well as other related duties.
Essential Functions:
Under direct supervision of a licensed School Psychologist:
1. Conduct individual evaluations in cognitive, behavioral, and academic areas as well as other areas that may be assigned.
2. Work collaboratively with the Education and Evaluation Consultation Center (EECC) assigned intern supervisor to provide comprehensive written report of observations, assessment results, and recommendations within the standards established by the EECC.
3. Confer with appropriate school personnel and/or parents about the evaluation results and recommendations.
4. Maintain regular attendance at work. Be punctual in meeting deadlines, attending meetings and following schedules.
Other Functions:
1. Maintain confidentiality at all times.
2. Demonstrate a commitment to promoting equity and diversity.
3. Maintain professional dress standards.
4. Perform other duties as assigned.
5. Complete all university program paperwork requirements to successfully complete internship experience.
WORKING CONDITIONS
1. Ability to work in a variety of settings including classroom, school buildings, and office environments.
2. Ability to provide own transportation to fulfill the requirement of the job within all three counties served.
3. Ability to carry materials that may weigh up to 40 pounds.
4. Ability to sit for extended periods of time in car and at desk.
5. Ability to use computer for extended periods of time to write reports and to complete logs, schedules, and paperwork.
6. Ability to stay overnight when providing services to assigned geographic locations in the three-county region.
