Job description

Regenstrief Institute is accepting applications for our annual 2024 Summer Student Research Assistant positions. These opportunities are temporary and part-time for the summer of 2024. The Student Research Assistants will have the opportunity to join scientist-led research teams working on projects in one of our centers.

Center for Biomedical Informatics (CBMI)

The Clem McDonald Center for Biomedical Informatics pioneers solutions in health information to help clinicians serve patients. Center for Health Services Research (HSR)

IU Center for Aging Research (IUCAR)

The IU Center for Aging Research at Regenstrief transforms health care for medically and socially vulnerable older adults by testing and implementing innovative strategies that improve the quality and efficiency of healthcare and self-care for this population. Researchers in IUCAR enjoy national and international recognition for their expertise in clinical research on the aging brain and the well-being of older adults.

POSITION PURPOSE

The Research Student provides various tasks related to research studies, which could include delivery of study subject assessment, reviewing paper or electronic medical records to determine eligibility of patient for study, documentation of subject feedback, electronic study data submission, working with research related data, literature reviews, manuscript creation and/or review of support for research studies as determined by research protocols.

Essential skills :
  • Completing tasks related to research studies, which could include delivery of study subject assessment, reviewing paper or electronic medical records to determine eligibility of patient for study, documentation of subject feedback, electronic study data submission, working with research related data, literature reviews, manuscript creation and/or review
  • Ability to participate in project meetings, team meetings, department meetings, etc.
  • Securely maintains study files in an organized manner.
  • Participates and provides input to study quality improvement and progress meetings to continuously improve study processes, efficiency, security and compliance.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent. Requires enrollment in or completion of at least the first year of college at a US institution. Education in research, public health, or similar field preferred but not required.
  • Prior knowledge/experience of medical terminology, research, healthcare, or related field preferred.
  • Experience with research and citing literature.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Ability to interact and verbally communicate with a diverse set of stakeholders.
  • Ability to write simple reports and operational correspondence.
  • Ability to read and follow general policies, procedures, and study protocols.
REASONING ABILITY
  • Ability to solve practical problems, troubleshoot, analyze situations, and make sound decisions
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
TECHNICAL/COMPUTER SKILLS
  • Proficient computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and
    e-mail systems.
  • Exposure to qualitative and/or quantitative data analytics and/or working with large data sets preferred.
