Sasaki interns get hands-on experience, develop valuable professional connections, and gain a deep understanding of how a leading firm operates and innovates. Interns will work on current Sasaki projects alongside our architects, landscape architects, interior designers, planners, urban designers, strategists, civil engineers, and graphic designers. While roles and responsibilities range based on the discipline and on-going project work of the firm at the time, interns can expect to be exposed to a rigorous and engaging design process, participate in work sessions and meetings as well as further their working knowledge of industry standard technologies, software programs, and best practices.

o Location: Boston, MA, Brooklyn, NY, or Denver, CO
o The Summer Internship is currently planned to be an in-person internship. Sasaki’s current policy is that employees collaborate in-person at least 3 days each week at the office.
o 10-12 week program from June 3rd, 2024 - August 30th, 2024 (end dates will be determined based on academic need/requirements but start date is firm)
o Applications close/due: Friday, January 19

o $25/hr

What you bring:
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
Actively pursuing a degree in planning or a related field. Background(s) in urban design, architecture, and/or landscape architecture a plus.
Proficient in Adobe Suite (Illustrator and InDesign required; Photoshop a plus), Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and ArcGIS
Strong presentation, research, verbal, written, and graphic communications skills
Strong quantitative and analytical skills to support data-informed planning processes
Strong organizational skills
Ability to work on multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
Interest/willingness to contribute to the full range of our project types, including those in both our campus and urban markets
Prior professional planning or design experience will be viewed favorably
Proficiency with languages spoken in frequent project locations (Spanish, Chinese, or Vietnamese) is a plus
What you'll do:
The planning internship requires a willingness to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams on research, graphics, and writing for master planning, space programming, and urban design projects. Students should have strong analysis, synthesis, research, and verbal and graphic communication skills and interest in projects such as urban districts, mixed use environments, neighborhood and regional plans, new communities and town centers, corporate employment and technology campuses, college and university campuses, resilience planning, and parks, recreation, and environmental planning.
Responsibilities will include contributions to and initiation of project planning ideas; research, analysis, and implementation strategies development, and ongoing project graphics, layout, and writing as part of interdisciplinary project teams within Sasaki. You will learn about and assist with different phases of planning projects, helping project teams with their daily functions and roles. The internship will also provide exposure to the various aspects and general operations of a multi-disciplinary design firm.
