About this role: We are currently looking to hire Instructional Coaches who are excited to play a pivotal role in coaching teachers and strengthening the content delivered to our students. Instructional Coaches must have knowledge on across content areas from curriculum to lesson planning, rigor, execution, behavior management, classroom culture, etc.


About Collegiate Academies: Collegiate Academies prepares all students for lives of unlimited opportunity. Founded in 2008, Collegiate Academies serves over 3,000 students in five public high schools and two postsecondary programs in New Orleans and Baton Rouge. We see the individual greatness of every student who comes through our doors. We serve a dramatically higher proportion of students with special needs, students who are English language learners, and students who are from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Our teams engage in regular observations, weekly coaching meetings and ongoing learning through professional development.


Responsibilities:

Teacher Coaching and Development

  • Guide a group of 12-16 teachers through real-time coaching, debriefing classroom materials, co-planning lessons, and analyzing data to push for a college ready standard.
  • Focus on results using academic data (daily exit ticket data, unit and interim assessment data) and observational data (aligned to the Collegiate Academies Teaching Rubric).
  • Assist teachers in executing rigorous Common Core aligned with conceptual instruction to foster high standard teaching expectation.
  • Teach your own classes and act as a model for excellent instruction

Professional Development

  • Execute Professional Development sessions with fidelity and excellence that focus on learning growth of the school.
  • Develop new and diverse professional development skills that enhance new teaching methods that strengthen Collegiate Academies values and academic goals.
  • Welcome adjustments to job responsibilities as needed to accomplish school-wide goals.

Teamwork

  • Demonstrate and understand the value of constructive feedback and willing to embrace Collegiate Academies teamwork values
  • Hold team members accountable to exemplifying Collegiate Academies core values of Growth, Ownership, and Joy.

  • Strong knowledge in the content area of choice, demonstrated through lesson planning, execution, and intervention with all students.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • 3+ years of teaching experience and 1+ years of experience coaching teachers preferred.
  • Familiarity with the Common Core State Standards and deep understanding of the standards for one content area specialty (English or Math)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills; an ability to build deep professional relationships and mutual respect with external partners.
