Land Intern:
As a Land Representative, you'll have the opportunity to gain valuable real-life work experience while working within an exploration or asset team. You'll also have the chance to work on real-world projects with significant business impact.

Job Description:
As a Land Representative, you will help our customers make informed, strategic business decisions by:
  • Negotiating and drafting with partners and landowners' various agreements related to oil and gas exploration and production.
  • Performing title work on exploratory, development, workover and plug and abandonment wells.
  • Providing Land support to multidisciplinary teams to help customers make informed, strategic business decisions on agreements and land ownership issues.
  • Interacting with federal and state agencies on oil and gas regulatory issues.
  • Managing surface land issues such as access, water and fencing; ensure compliance with Government requirements for surface and settle damage claims.
  • Establishing effective relationships with third parties.

Qualifications:
We're looking for candidates with the following attributes:
  • Negotiation ability and persuasiveness: Use appropriate interpersonal skills and communication methods to establish effective relationships with third parties, such as various government agencies, landowners and partner companies' land professionals. Obtain leases and other agreements from these third parties.
  • Planning and organizing: Establish courses of action for self and others to ensure that work is completed efficiently.
  • Teamwork: Operate in a team environment and participate in cross-functional teams to solve business problems.
  • Communication: Express thoughts effectively, both verbally and in writing; two-way communication.
  • Contract interpretation/drafting/problem solving: Review contracts submitted by third parties and identify what is acceptable or unacceptable to Chevron. Draft contracts to effectively accomplish business objectives that are acceptable to third parties. Review complicated title opinions and chain of title documents and determine required actions.

Land GIS Intern:
As a Land GIS Intern, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable real-life work experience while working within Americas Commercial & Land team. You will also have the chance to work on real-world projects with significant business impact.
You will:
  • Gain exposure to the energy industry through firsthand experience including an all-summer Land GIS project, plus mini projects offering exposure to multiple Land teams.
  • Learn more about Chevron's processes, people, and culture with exposure to multiple groups including traditional oil and gas, as well as Chevron New Energies.
  • Be paired with a mentor and buddy to advance Land GIS knowledge and provide guidance throughout the summer.
  • Learn about the importance of land in Chevron's exploration and production activities.
  • Present your summer projects experience to senior management at the end of the intern assignment.

Job Description:
As a Land GIS Intern, you will help Land and partners like legal, finance, operations, etc. make informed, strategic business decisions by:
  • Managing land spatial data for all North America relative to Chevron's current land grid system and in accordance with GIS data standards.
  • Delivering geospatial solutions, guidance, and services for initiatives that require a more expanded or complex use of the land spatial data, including custom applications, acreage position, legal description discrepancies and validating spatial locations.
  • Developing and implement GIS based reports, data extraction procedures, custom work process to facilitate the maintenance and use of the spatial data.
  • Providing GIS resources to multidisciplinary teams to help make informed, strategic business decisions on agreements and land ownership issues.
  • Partnering with users with varying amounts of GIS experience to complete task in a group environment.

Qualifications:
We are looking for candidates with the following attributes:
  • Effective communication skills: Express thoughts effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Desire to learn and provide/accept feedback: Asks questions and seeks out knowledge from varying GIS and Land professionals to truly learn the Land business. Also, willing to provide feedback and input to team members, as well as receive feedback.
  • Analytic and critical thinking skills: Effectively manage Land data by providing GIS based technical solutions, information products, mapping, data, & services.
  • Ability to prioritize workload: Ability to manage numerous high priority tasks simultaneously.
  • Teamwork: Operate in a team environment and participate in cross-functional teams to solve business problems.

  • The anticipated salary range for this position is between $22.50 (hourly) - $7,400 (monthly). The selected candidate's compensation will be determined based on their skills, experience, and qualifications.
