PURPOSE:
Provides technical leadership and is responsible for establishing the direction for maintenance, standards, life-cycle management, design and implementation approaches for the company's servers and/or related infrastructure. Creates, evaluates and implements plans and design proposals for high impact IT solutions and their use involving leading edge technologies and methods considering key factors such as their long-term effectiveness (service delivery and cost), practicality, technical limitations, criticality, and coordinates with Headquarters. Leads or contributes to designs applied to all aspects of servers and/or related infrastructure prototypes and eventual implementation. Performs work of high complexity and derives logical processes based on technical platforms. Engages in performance/integration testing, problem analysis, business and technical analysis.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Technical Leadership (75%)
• Perform Linux & Windows System Administration
• Perform Storage System Administration
• Perform Enterprise Backup Administration
• Perform Linux & Windows System Monitoring
• Ensure systems are highly available, secure, manageable, and lowest cost to operate
Project Management (25%)
• Manage a large portfolio of projects, tasks, issues and systems
• Manage projects from initial requirement stage on through completion stage, ensuring appropriate documentation and completion
• Conduct/Lead formal project meetings with team, other departments, and customers

SCOPE:
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY - None. Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel.
DECISION MAKING/DISCRETION -Follows management direction, adheres to Change Management policies and custodians resources responsibly. Works on complex issues where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of variable factors. Exercises judgment in selecting methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Networks with key contacts outside own area of expertise.
RESULTS - Escalate as needed to address business need when determined to be out of scope of position responsibility.
STRATEGY DEVELOPMENT - Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel (Team Lead).
EDUCATION:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology majors are preferred.
WORK EXPERIENCE:
- At least 7 years of experience as primary OS administrator for Linux Servers and Storage/SAN.
- Experience in maintenance and configuration of Storage, SAN and enterprise backup infrastructure.
CERTIFICATIONS - • Linux + (Preferred) • Red Hat Level Linux Certification (Preferred) • Hitachi or NetApp Storage Certification (Preferred)
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - While performing the duties of this job, the employee will occasionally be required to stand, walk, sit, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application information.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT: Employee must be able to use a telephone, computer, keyboard, printer, copy machine, Microsoft Word, Excel
TRAVEL TIME: Occasional travel may be required.
SALARY RANGE: Roughly $97,000 to $122,500 per yr.
