CHILD NUTRITION SUMMER PROGRAM
2 - 3.5 HourStraight Shift Cook III/Servers - Madison Elementary School
- Monday - Friday, 9:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.
- Prep/Training Day: May 31, 2024. Must be available for training prior to start date and complete this before program begins
- Work Days: Monday, June 24, 2024 to Friday, August 2, 2024
- Closed dates - June 19, 2024, June 20, 2024 and July 4, 2024*
*Holidays, Closed Days and Calamitous Days are without pay

TITLE: Cook III/Server
REPORTS TO: Administrator for Child Nutrition and Cafeteria Manager
JOB GOAL: To prepare and serve students attractive and nutritious meals in an atmosphere of efficiency, cleanliness and friendliness
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must have some experience in the production of quantity foods
- Possess the ability to successfully relate to students and fellow workers
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
- *Pass the approved West Virginia Service Personnel Tests for School Cook
- Any combination of training and experience which would lead to successful employment as a cook
- This job is classified as requiring a medium-heavy work capacity
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB:
- Maintain the highest standards of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen and cafeteria
- Must be able to use effectively all kitchen equipment
- Assist with determining the quantities of each food to be prepared daily
- Prepare food according to a planned menu
- Report to Cafeteria Manager any faulty or inferior quality food which is received
- Participate in staff development training as directed
- Demonstrate an interest in the school and in the welfare of the children
- Must be able to lift all equipment and food containers used in cooking (example: case of 6/#10 cans, grinders, etc.)
- Assist Child Nutrition Light Truck Driver to load truck for delivery
- Assist Cafeteria Manager in maintaining accurate inventory
- Maintain positive work habits
- Perform duties efficiently and productively
- Maintain and/or upgrade skills
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal, Child Nutrition Administrator and Cafeteria Manager
*Currently classified cooks do not have to take the tests.
