ABOUT THE POSITION
The Maintenance Technician performs routine preventive maintenance and corrective or restorative repairs on electrical, mechanical, manufacturing and packaging systems and equipment. This position ensures that the plant is running in peak condition in a safe and reliable manner. The Maintenance Technician must comply with all applicable state, and federal regulations/policies.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Implements and actively supports the plant and corporate safety policies and initiatives.
- Responsible to diagnose equipment malfunction, determine root cause and initiate immediate and long-term corrections.
- Understanding of mechanical and electrical blueprints, repair manuals, and parts catalogs.
- Repair machines, equipment, or structures, using tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, wrenches, or equipment such as precision measuring instruments or electrical or electronic testing devices.
- Ability to repair, and upgrades plant processing, labeling, packaging, and filling line equipment.
- Understanding of Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- General building maintenance responsibilities as needed.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High school diploma of equivalent experience required.
- Three or more years of experience in the maintenance field or in a related area.
- Mechanic, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical knowledge & aptitude are required along with an understanding of preventive maintenance programs.
- Mathematical skills include (at minimum) the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, determine linear measurements, compute areas and volumes of conventional shapes and forms, and compute the approximate weight of objects.
- Ability to work with increasing levels of independence and self-direction. Ability to observe and report deficiencies.
- Ability to climb ladders, crawl in plenum areas, lift and carry heavy equipment, and be able to bend, stoop and work in uncomfortable positions. Physically capable of working under all weather conditions. Experience with the troubleshooting of PLCs is recommended.
- Ability to travel to 25%.
