The Interpreter will facilitate effective communication between two parties that do not speak the same language by converting one spoken language to another. Interpreting services include but are not limited to Employment, Training & Orientation, Meetings, Human Resources, Health Services and other operational activities as assigned. This position is held to a strict code of confidentiality. The interpreter must be willing to work in all environments of the facility.
Requirements:
Education: High school degree or equivalent is preferred but not required.
Experience:
- Applicants shall have fluency in Spanish and English.
- Good general knowledge of the production areas and management personnel.
- Skilled in accurate interpretation.
- Must be able to communicate and translate effectively in verbal and written format from English and Spanish and vice versa.
- Confidentiality is a must
Communication Skills:
- Must have strong verbal communication skills in their dominant language and the English language.
- Must agree to sign a confidentiality agreement.
Special Skills:
- Must be able to work independently with little to no supervision, while at the same time be a member of team to coordinate and provide support as needed.
- Must be able to demonstrate strong organizational, decision making, and follow-up skills.
- Basic computer and typing skills preferred.
- The Interpreter is expected to use dictionaries and glossaries for reference in order to communicate a clear and concise message.
Performance (if Internal Candidate):
- Team Members who have had a Core Safety Mandate within the last 12 months will not be considered for the position
- Team Member's attendance record must reflect 5 points or less, on a 14-point system; or 3 points or less, on an 8-point system, in order to be considered for this position
- Team Member's disciplinary record cannot have a written warning and suspension with the last 6 months
