Job Description
Our client is looking for a 1st Shift Assembler who will work from assembly drawings, wiring diagrams, product manuals, specification work sheets, work orders, standard work, and verbal instructions. The assembler performs a wide variety of operations associated with the assembly, testing, packing, and shipping of various products, confirms product in the MRP system when necessary, and delivers product to the next internal / external customer.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
-Assembling materials using support tools such as production orders, standard work, blue prints, and other documents related to the Engineering / Customer specification.
-Accurately enter data into the MRP (e.g. SAP) system and ensure that inventory is accurately stated.
-Understand and strictly adhere to all hazardous material shipping guidelines.
-Maintain accurate records relating to production orders, data collection, and Total Preventative Maintenance (TPM) sheets.
-Maintain all assembly equipment used in the department.
-Accurately maintain stock control, pull items for orders, work in other departments, and complete other related duties as required to fulfill customer orders.
-Assist in identifying improvement opportunities.
-Perform daily activities safely in regards to own self as well as others and in wearing the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment.
-Actively participate in facility 5S and Lean initiatives.
-Safely operate fork trucks and cranes.
-Maintain quality throughout the Assembly process through self-inspection or other approved processes.
Education:
High School graduate with excellent math and reading / writing ability.
Experience:
-Product assembly experience.
-Experience with basic assembly hand tools; powered and non-powered.
-Experience reading blueprints / schematics.
-Experience operating fork trucks and overhead cranes strongly preferred.
-Experience working in a fast paced team oriented environment.
-Experience in reading, comprehending, and following standard work, assembly / quality assurance procedures, and engineering prints.
Qualifications:
-Ability to read and interpret standard schematics
-Ability to work effectively with pneumatic tools and hand tools (hammers, torque wrench, screw drivers, etc.).
-Ability to work with fixtures.
-Ability to safely operate jib and overhead cranes.
-Ability to perform quality inspections based on set expectations.
-Ability to safely operate a forklift.
-Demonstrated good attendance and punctuality record.
-Good verbal communication skills.
-Good problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
-Ability to learn basic computer skills involving SAP and Microsoft Office.
-Ability to understand fractions, decimals, and measurement techniques.
-Ability and drive to meet customer quality and delivery requirements.
-Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
-Ability to inspect own work and the work of others.
-Strong organizational skills with a focus on details.
-Ability to work overtime when required (sometimes on weekends).
-Ability to work from order schedules.
-Ability to follow directions.
-Ability to follow through in completing assignments.
Certificated/Licenses:
-Prior fork-lift / crane certification preferred. Ability to be certified required.
Physical Demands:
-Employee is regularly required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, lift, balance, crouch, stoop, use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
-The employee is required to climb, kneel, or crawl as well as to sit, hear, or use computer equipment.
-Must be able to lift and / or move up to seventy-five (75) pounds.
-Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
-While performing the duties of this job, the employee is in a manufacturing plant environment.
-The employee is exposed to loud noise, heat, cold, heavy materials, electronic machinery, moving mechanical parts, etc.
-The work environment is fast paced and action oriented and requires flexibility relating to work hours as well as work tasks.
