Position Summary
The Activities/ Guest Services Coordinator is responsibility for providing oversight and operating camps activities as well as hosting guest groups. This position will also work in our maintenance dept. assisting with standard maintenance dept. tasks.
Essential Functions
- Encourage the professional and spiritual growth staff under your care.
- Assist in maintaining ACA and CCCA accreditation standards as well as the preparation of all necessary reports - many of these accreditations are based upon programmatic elements.
- The Activities Coordinator has 3 main functions:
- Providing oversight and leading camp activities
- Assist our Guest Service dept. in hosting groups.
- Assisting our operations dept. in standard tasks.
- Activities (ropes course, bike program, swimming, hiking, target activities etc…)
- Design, execute, and evaluate Camp activities that meet the needs and interests of the camp target populations and ensure their delivery in a safe and quality manner.
- Assist in the hiring of summer staff that can facilitate and help run summer activities.
- Work closely with the Program manager to ensure the successful execution of an efficient and effective Summer Activities program.
- Be the on-site expert in camps ropes course, pools, bikes, and other activities offered.
- Responsible to create and implement activates to guest groups.
- Responsible to ensure that activities are being done safely and efficiently, following rules and accreditation.
- Develop and implement new activities that will heighten what we offer to guest groups.
- Guest Services
- Work with Guest Service Manager on dept. needs.
- Host guest groups according to hosing task list
- Maintenance
- Will spend approx. 1/3 of hours in maintenance dept.
- Assist with normal maintenance tasks (group setups, trash runs, camp cleaning, landscaping, housekeeping, upkeep items, etc...)
Working Conditions
Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, fax and telephone. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of The Salvation Army mission, philosophy, culture, protocol and organizational structure.
- Must have ability to work well independently in a detailed, professional and courteous manner.
- Combination of college education, training and experience in the camping industry.
- Friendly and personable. Excellent customer service skills required.
- Must be 21 years or older.
- A team player; must work well with others.
- Experience in supervision of staff.
- Must have good communication skills and pay close attention to detail.
- Required to have a thorough knowledge of building policies, procedures and event requirements.
- Word processing experience. Familiarity with Microsoft Windows, Word and Excel especially valuable.
- Possess a valid CA driver’s license.
