TITLE: Youth Services Specialist
BASIC FUNCTION: The Youth Services Specialist assist in managing the day-to-day operations of Youth Service Programming, including the Homework Center and the Summer Youth Program. Responsible for conducting intakes, pre-assessments and internal and external referrals utilizing the CAAPS procedure.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- The Youth Services Specialist assist in the development of new programming and assist in preparation of proposals.
- Assist in management of day-to-day operations of youth service programs.
- Participate in local networking and community events as appropriate to support youth programming.
- The Youth Services Specialist assist youth with homework and tutor elementary and middle school aged youth.
- Supervise center activities.
- The Youth Services Specialist Gather information concerning available social services, education, training, jobs, and housing for youth to be a resource for the community and MOC.
- The Youth Services Specialist recruit youth for programming.
- Complete the intake and assessment process on all potential clients, utilizing the CAAPS procedures; provide internal and external referrals to assist the client in obtaining appropriate services relative to their needs.
- The Youth Services Specialist provide case management to youth and maintain detailed individual files.
- Assist in the development of program and budget design and implementation.
- Assist in the completion of monthly, quarterly, and annual reports to funders as required.
- Other duties as assigned by Director of Youth Services.
- Attend appropriate training sessions as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Associate degree in related field or some post secondary education with tutoring experience can substitute for degree; with at least one year of experience in youth programming
- Case management experience and experience working with youth.
- Demonstrated program development and implementation experience.
- Strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Strong computer skills preferred.
- Ability to relate to persons of varying socio-economic and racial/ethnic populations.
- Acceptable CORI.
