POSITION SUMMARY
The Program Assistant is part of a multi-disciplinary team that is responsible for providing safe transportation for clients to and from UAII business-related activities on weekdays, evenings, and some weekends. In addition to transporting, this position is responsible for administrative functions such as accurate documentation on paper and electronically through the Resource Patient Management System (RPMS).
ESSENTIAL DUTIES, FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for transporting clients to and from UAII business-related activities in a safe manner
- Maintain and submit a weekly schedule of transportation requests, pick-ups, and drop-offs
- Create social media content to promote the program
- Provide follow-up calls with all scheduled clients
- Document all encounters utilizing the necessary paper forms as well as electronic forms through RPMS
- Able to exercise a high level of judgment, accept supervision, and exercise a high level of accuracy and organization
- Maintain strict confidentiality and communicate with people in a professional courteous manner
- Responsible for administering and complying with transportation policies and applicable California laws
- Responsible and able to comply with all applicable federal 1 state, and municipal laws, statutes, or ordinances
- Adhere to agency policies and procedures and advance the goals of UAII in a manner that embodies the agency's philosophy.
- Regularly update the director of all activities, pending issues and potential problems
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications:
- 1 year of experience providing transportation services
- 1 year experience working with families, youth, and seniors
- Able to work flexible hours to include evenings and Saturdays
Experience & Education:
- High School Diploma or GED
Certifications:
- Must maintain a valid California Driver’s License
Confidentiality:
- Maintain strict confidentiality of client and personnel information adhering to HIPPA, professional codes of conduct, State of CA regulations, Privacy Act, and UAII policies and procedures
- This position has access to sensitive information, and a breach in confidentiality will be grounds for disciplinary action up to and including immediate termination
Communication/ Interpersonal Skills:
- Possess the ability to communicate with others in a courteous and professional manner
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Proficient in English
Technology Skills:
- Microsoft Office, RPMS, MS Windows
- Familiarity with video and photo editing software
Other Skills:
- Able to complete administrative work when not driving
- Available and willing to travel as needed
- Available to work evening and weekend hours as needed
- Willingness to learn new skills and participate in training sessions relevant to the position
POSITION PREFERENCES
- Experience working with the American Indian/Alaskan Native community
- Experience working with nonprofit organizations, community groups and performance-based government contracts.
- Knowledge of Indian Self-Determination and Education Assistance Act (Public Law 93-638)
- Class BP Licensure or the ability to pass both medical and skills test to obtain Class BP License within the first 6 months of employment.

Work environment:
The work environment characteristics described here represent those employee encounters while performing the primary functions of this job. Normal office conditions exist, and the noise level in the work environment can vary from low to moderate. Will have to drive and commute within Los Angeles County. Occasional outdoor recreation and camping.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, talk and hear. There are prolonged periods of sitting, keyboarding, reading, as well as driving or riding in transport vehicles. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include reading, distance, computer, and color vision. Talking and hearing are essential to communicate with patients, vendors and staff. Ability to participate in physical activities like stretching.
