Job Title: Youth Program Director

Association: MS Gulf Coast YMCA

Reports To: Director of Operations

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA program(s).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Manages the Youth Programming for the Y including but not limited to the following; Kids Zone, Teen Programming, Youth Sports, Kamp Badine, Y on the Fly, and other Youth Programs in accordance with YMCA policies and philosophy.

2. Establishes new program activities and expands programs within the community in accordance with strategic/operating plans, as well as community needs.

3. Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs team members and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates team members performance. Develops strategies to motivate team members and achieve goals.

4. Organizes, and conducts leader’s clubs and other teen activities and events.

5. Secures facilities for program activities and events.

6. Conduct routine field maintenance tasks tailored to accommodate the needs of both youth and adult sports seasons, ensuring optimal playing conditions throughout various sporting activities.

7. Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program registrations. May review and process program scholarship applications.

8. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.

9. Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives including ensuring programs are fiscally sound ensuring participation in programs while maintaining accurate records and statistics.

10. Develops yearly marketing plan to recruit and retain youth participants.

11. Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.

12. Research, prepare, and submit grant applications aligned with the objectives and requirements of Youth Programs, seeking funding opportunities to support program initiatives and sustainability efforts.

13. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.

14. Attends all leadership meetings and may assist with Program Committee meetings.

15. Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs.

16. Partners with association directors to ensure programs are being supported throughout the association.

17. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Bachelor’s degree in early childhood/Elementary Education, Sports or Recreation Management or related field or equivalent.

2. One to two years related experience preferred.

3. Age 21 and over.

4. Requirements within 30 days of hire include: completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Team members; Working with Program Volunteers; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.

5. Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications, Team Leader.

6. Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of
the community.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
