CMCB is seeking a newYouth Development Coordinatorto join the programs team! Reporting to the Chief Programming Officer, this role is an excellent position for early-career candidates with interest in Youth Development who have strong operational experience, are experienced at building trusting relationships with young people, and have the ability to take initiative. The Youth Development Coordinator will support the day-to-day operations of CMCB's youth employment program and play a key role in CMCB's partnership with Edvestors to support the implementation of the Bloomberg Arts Initiative (BAI) Internship. While previous experience/interest in nonprofit administration is a plus, any candidate who is highly organized with a passion for youth career & skill development could thrive in this role. Summary of Position

Status: Full-Time Salaried (40 hours/week), Exempt

Start Date: April/May 2024

Schedule: Hybrid, Monday - Friday, occasional evening and weekend hours with advance notice

Reports to: Chief Programming Officer (CPO)

Responsibilities

Program Coordination

  • Support current programming and the implementation of CMCB's youth employment programs, which currently offer paid work to 20-40 youth employees
  • Manage coordination and execution of all program events, including the set up, operation, and breakdown of A/V equipment
  • Maintain weekly youth employee schedule
  • Assist the Youth Development Manager (YDM) in implementing effective systems

Mentorship and Advocacy

  • Facilitate Youth Development and growth in a collaborative environment
  • Act as a trusted point of contact for youth employees
  • Support planning of professional development opportunities
  • Support the YDM around all youth employee communications

Workforce Administration

  • Partner with HR to ensure youth employees complete key employee tasks
  • Support youth employees as they grow workplace skills
  • Assist youth employees in planning and promoting events
  • Act as a resource and reference for youth and families with questions

Data Outcomes & Reporting

  • Collaborate with YDM to complete program assessment mechanisms
  • Support data collection for all relevant grant and funder reports

Qualifications

Essential

  • Strong operational experience working with youth administratively in nonprofit, education, or Youth Development
  • Passion for youth career & skill development and program innovation
  • General knowledge of and/or experience in music and public school settings
  • Must be adept at and comfortable with working in a culturally diverse environment with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
  • Ability to take initiative to identify challenges and improve/optimize processes
  • Highly organized and effectively prioritizes tasks to maximize workflow
  • Skilled in written & verbal culturally competent communication
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to foster professional relationships
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (particularly Excel), Google Apps, and Zoom
  • Must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S as CMCB is unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment visa at this time

Preferred

  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent experience in administration and/or project
    management
  • Demonstrated experience planning, coordinating, and executing events
  • Experience in the fields of community arts education
  • Fluency in Spanish, Haitian Creole, and/or Chinese (Mandarin/Cantonese) is highly desirable

Physical Demands

The duties of this position are performed indoors in a business/office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate during active programming hours and minimal otherwise. While performing the duties of this job, the person in this position must be able to to remain in a stationary position 50-75% of the time. They will need to constantly operate a computer and other office productivity machinery. The person in this position frequently communicates verbally with internal and external constituents and must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
