Youth Corrections Service Officer
General Responsibilities: To supervise the male residents of Middle TN Juvenile Detention/Wayne Halfway House, Inc. Programs, following all criteria set by the State of Tennessee Department of Children's Services and Wayne Halfway House, Inc. Assist the Security Supervisor as directed with the implementation of rules and Policies.
Duties:
1. Perform intake on new residents.
2. Keep daily logs.
3. Participate in reporting and handling of crisis situations.
4. Establish good rapport with the residents.
5. Teach/ supervise Independent Living Skills.
6. Encourage/ instruct residents in the practice of proper hygiene and health practices.
7. Supervise recreational activities.
8. Supervise mealtimes.
9. Provide transport when needed.
10. Demonstrate competence in cultural knowledge, awareness, and sensitivity.
11. Maintain discipline following State and Federal guidelines.
12. Maintain knowledge of community resources.
13. Monitor residents for safe environment at the facility.
14. Follow all applicable Policies and Procedures of Wayne Halfway House, Inc.
15. Participate in the PQI Program as requested.
16. Receive administrative supervision from Shift Supervisor and Educational/ Professional Development supervision from the assigned Staff Development Instructor.
17. Perform any other job-related duties as assigned by Security Supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience: A Youth Service Officer must be at least 19 years of age with a High School Diploma or GED. Veterans and/or one year working in corrections or with children is preferred. NO FELONY CONVICTIONS!!
