Job Posting: The Youth Baseball and Softball Site Supervisor/Field Maintenance Worker will be under the supervision of Athletic Supervisor/Assistant Baseball Director, to manage the on-site operations of the Decatur Park District Youth Baseball/Softball (players are 3-15 years old).

• Must have exceptional verbal communication skills. Successful candidate must be dependable and be able to work independently.
• The Adult Softball Site Supervisor will be expected to keep safe, fun and sportsmanship like playing environment and an organized experience for staff and contracted umpires.
• He/she must be able to enforce league rules and keep team managers, players, parents, umpires and scorekeepers all on task.
• The individual must have (at minimum) a High School diploma or currently pursuing.
• Preferable experience in playing baseball/softball, maintaining athletic fields, landscaping, baseball/softball scorekeeping, or sports management experience.
• This position requires some lifting (up to 60 lbs.), substantial standing and walking.
• Rake, sweep, blow and pick up clippings, paper, and trash from athletic fields.
• Prepare the fields which will include dragging the infield, chalking the field according to specified dimensions, watering infield, and setting bases.
• Field Maintenance will include filling infield holes, pushing water from fields, operating motorized vehicles including tractors, golf cart, and light utility vehicles.
• Must be able to complete required paperwork in a timely fashion.
• Must be able to follow both oral and written direction without constant supervision.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

• Valid Illinois State Driver's license
• Riding mower, push mower, edger, weed eater, light-duty vehicles, sprayers, drag, sweeper, trimmers, rack, blowers, shovel, chalk, and other small hand tools.
• Motorized vehicles for driving, moving equipment, and dragging fields. Operation of hand tools, such as screw drivers, crow bar, shovel, rake, tape measure, hammer, chalk box, and other equipment.
• Able to work various shifts and schedules including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
