HOURS/DAYS SCHEDULE: Hours of operation 6:00a-9:00p morning, midday, nights TBD based on availability
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
We are looking for a Certified Yoga Instructor
~Must have certifications to instruct classes
Class(es) can be 30min, 45min or 1 hour. (will discuss)

POSITION SUMMARY:
To instruct aerobic and/or conditioning classes under the general direction of the Health and Wellness Physical Director/Fitness Coordinator, consistent with the philosophy, policies and purpose of the YMCA of Metropolitan Denver. The Group Exercise Instructor, working as part of the Health and Wellness Team, will deliver professional customer service and relationship building skills to create a welcoming environment at the YMCA of Metropolitan Denver. The incumbent will also exhibit the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all aspects of their work with the YMCA.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Serve as an instructor for the fitness classes.
2. Exercise Instructors are expected to be 10-15 minutes early for class and stay 10-15 minutes after to arrange equipment, clean up, do appropriate record keeping, read notices, and visit with participants.
3. When unable to instruct a particular class, instructors will find a substitute for that class, and inform the supervisor in writing of the substitution.
4. The Exercise Instructor is responsible for the proper care of any equipment used in class, and reporting the need for repairs to the Health and Wellness Physical Director/Supervisor promptly.
5. Certified as a YMCA Exercise Instructor, you are encouraged to participate in any training workshops that pertain to the field.
6. Exercise Instructor attitudes are to be pleasant, sociable, and enthusiastic when in the YMCA.
7. Exercise instructors must come prepared with appropriate dress and appropriate music.
8. Ensure the safety and enjoyment of all members and guests in our facility.
9. Identify leaders for recruitment of volunteers/staff.
10. Follow and enforce all YMCA procedures and policies, including: personnel guidelines, safety guidelines, facility access procedures and membership policies. Carry out emergency plans as necessary.
11. Maintain a clean and safe YMCA. Take initiative to clean up/repair areas.
12. Attend and remain current on all mandatory trainings and staff meetings.
13. Be knowledgeable and supportive of the YMCA annual support campaign.
14. Any other duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reaches with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl; and hear.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and regularly lift and/or move 25 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distant vision, peripheral and depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this job, this individual is occasionally exposed to wet conditions and outdoor weather conditions.
- The typical noise level in the facility is moderate but may be high at times.
QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Orientation to Healthy Living or completed within 90 days of hire (this is an online course).
2. YMCA Foundations of Group Exercise Instructor Training or an approved National Certification with less than 104 hours of documented teaching experience.
3. Current BLS (Basic Lifesaving Skills), First Aid and Emergency O2 certification
4. Must maintain YMCA Certification or maintain a National certification for Group Exercise Instructor.
