Position: Wellness DirectorSalary: $50,000-$60,000 (possible $12,000/yr.additional for PT hours)
YMCA Silver Spring is currently looking to hire a new team member to lead the wellness department. The Wellness Director will provide leadership and support for a team of fitness professionals at a full facility Y. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge, experience and passion for healthy living initiatives and programs.
Some of the exciting things you will do as a Wellness Director, include but are not limited to:
- Lead the branch wellness team in implementing the Association's best practice model for excellence in wellness programming and operations.
- Ensure that outstanding Wellness experiences are provided to all members (i.e. supporting the development of motivating monthly member activity calendars, leading excellent wellness floor services, supporting the delivery of outstanding personal wellness training experiences, inspiring excellent new member on-boarding experiences, etc.) to increase member satisfaction and participation in wellness activities.
- Support the development of the Personal Trainers, Wellness Coaches, Group Exercise Coordinator and Group Exercise Instructors in enhancing member experiences.
- Support the delivery of Community Healthy programs (i.e. Diabetes Prevention Program) in concert with the YMCA's Community Health leadership team.

Qualifications and experience:
The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of five-years' experience working within a Wellness/Fitness department, supervisory experience, a record of delivering excellent personal training management and instruction. Must possess a current nationally recognized fitness certifications (i.e. ACE, NASM, ACSM, NSCA, NSPA). Must have current first aid, CPR, and other safety certification. Experience working with Community Health programs, a plus. An undergraduate degree (or advanced degree) in exercise science, kinesiology, nutrition or physical education is required. Effective leadership skills and strong work ethic. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite computer skills, ability to learn a propriety software, payroll processing, scheduling and general office equipment. Flexible work schedule with the availability to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
