POSITION SUMMARY
The duties of the Yard Jockey/Dry Dock Coordinator include but are not limited to, proper inbound receiving, outbound shipping and storage operations on the floor. The Yard Jockey/Dry Dock Coordinator is the immediate floor supervisor overseeing the forklift drivers and/or stackers, regarding safety, sanitation and associate accountability. This role is the essential point of reference for day-to-day activities, serving as a "go to" person for questions regarding how to perform a specific task.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions of the Yard Jockey/Dry Dock Coordinator include but are not limited to:
- Ensuring yard activity functionalities
- Clocking people in and out at the start of each shift
- Serves as the liaison to assign and distribute the forklift keys to each associate.
- Maintains and tracks availability of dock doors.
- Facilitates the compliance status (indoors loaded or empty) and pending inbound to be unloaded.
- Monitors the coolers and performs periodic walks around the warehouse, checking for available space for potential inbound loads for the day.
- Carries a radio for direct communication with the shipping office in order to provide available doors and staging. They are the main link between dock and office personnel.
- Turns on/off truck reefers when needed.
- Direct communication with Dock/QC Department on all aspects of standards to be met.
- Checks cooler for loads pending and receiving.
- Distributes and assigns personnel throughout the day, following guidance of the Warehouse Supervisors
- Assigns pick tickets to the forklift drivers according to work load.
- Safely maintains the operation of the forklift adhering to all safety requirements and internal policies.
- Compliance with company policies and regulations regarding the loading and unloading of the inbound/outbound shipments.
- Inbound segregation and processing of particular commodities into inventory or cross docking procedures
- Safely back and dock vendors and Pero trailers into the dock and the yard parking
- Properly and safely use the yard equipment operating controls including the yard horse.
- Coupling and uncoupling trailers
- Perform pre/post usage inspection for the yard equipment including the yard horse and trailers.
- Efficiently and safely building/picking up orders for outbound shipments
- Safe operations of the dock levelers and its functionalities
- Accuracy when auditing inbound and outbound shipments.
- Follows safety policies and procedures including safe power equipment operations.
- Follow compliance with GMP, USDA, DOL, DOT, and OSHA standards.
- Follows all company policies.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
This position requires 1-2 years of experience or any equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS
- High School Education/G.E.D. or applicable certification preferred.
- Knowledge of warehouse operations preferred but not necessary
- Knowledge of forklift and computer systems preferred.
- Experience with produce distribution software systems preferred.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Working knowledge of basic produce standards and customer fresh wrap specifications preferred
- Strong communication skills and the desire to work with other team members.
SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS
- Frequent sitting, using hands for firm grasping and use of feet for repetitive motion in operation of power equipment.
- Frequently lifting, carrying 5 pounds to 50 pounds
- Occasionally to frequently walking, standing, kneeling, squatting, and reaching above shoulder level.
- Occasionally repetitive hand motion and use of cutting utensils such as knives, peelers.
- Constant exposure to chemicals such as chlorine, etc.
- Exposure to product fumes such as onions, peppers, etc.
- Works overtime as required.
- Other duties may be assigned.

Pay: $54,600.00 - $65,000.00 per year
