Yard Jockey

Overview:

Kamps Inc. a full service pallet company delivering innovative pallet and packaging solutions to customers across the United States. We are looking to hire a Yard Jockey. As a Yard Jockey, you will be responsible for efficiently and safely maneuvering vehicles within a designated area. You will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth flow of operations by organizing the movement of trailers and other equipment. This position requires the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties:

• Arrange trailers in a manner that optimizes space utilization and facilitates easy access for loading and unloading operations
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers and other personnel to prioritize tasks, receive instructions, and update the status of yard activities
• Adhere strictly to safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents or incidents, including the proper use of safety equipment
• Conduct routine inspections of trucks, trailers, and other equipment to ensure they are in proper working condition, reporting any defects or issues to maintenance personnel
• Maintain accurate records of trailer movements and any relevant notes
• Be prepared to work in various weather conditions and adapt to changing priorities or operational demands as necessary

Qualifications/Skills

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
• Previous experience operating yard trucks or similar heavy equipment required
• Ability to operate vehicles in a safe and efficient manner, including backing and maneuvering in tight spaces
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions accurately
• Physical fitness and stamina required for prolonged periods of standing, walking, and operating vehicles

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
