YAL State Director (Grassroots)
Job Description
Position Overview
Young Americans for Liberty (YAL) is looking for highly motivated, detail oriented freedom fighters to serve as Grassroots State Directors.
Young Americans for Liberty is a 501c(4) organization that holds the vision to free the fifty states across America with our Hazlitt Coalition of liberty legislators who will win pro-liberty legislative fights, ascend to higher office, and reclaim the direction of our government.
We are seeking highly motivated and experienced State Directors to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for running legislative operations within their state to equip Hazlitt Coalition liberty legislators with the tools and tactics they need to be successful as well as empower grassroots supporters to contact their elected officials to advocate for liberty policy change.
Responsibilities
  • Coach, mentor and hold accountable in-state Hazlitt Coalition liberty legislators on the best tools and tactics to employ for succeeding at the capitol. This can include providing model legislation, holding face-to-face meetings at the capitol and assisting Hazlitt Coalition members with amendment drafting and navigating legislative procedure during session.
  • Manage field staff including door knocking teams.
  • Oversee legislative advocacy programs within the state to ensure that door knocking, phone banking, texting, direct mail program and other project components are occurring on time and to maximum efficiency.
  • Review and code all Hazlitt Coalition authored bills in the state using BillTrack50.
  • Meet with in-state investors to educate them on YAL programming and communicate the value of legislative operations in a given state.
  • Coordinate in-state Liberty Candidate Academies and candidate recruitment operations.
  • Report weekly to the appropriate Regional Manager.

Qualifications
  • Proficient in Google Suite, experience with BillTrack50, i360 preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in legislative advocacy.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and able to work independently.
  • Knowledge of confrontational politics, grassroots mobilization and candidate recruitment preferred.

Compensation
