Families in Transition (FIT) is a private nonprofit that offers an array of services, such as case management, rental and move-in assistance and budgeting, to eligible families who are experiencing housing instability in Santa Cruz County. FIT has been in operation for over 30 years and is committed to working in partnership with participants, stakeholders and the community towards stable housing for all community members. FIT actively recruits for applicants with lived experience and, after successful completion of the introductory period, offers flexible scheduling and peer support.
Position summary: Under the direct supervision of the Senior Young Adults Achieving Success (YAAS) Case Manager and in close consultation with the Direct Services Supervisor, the YAAS Peer Navigator is responsible for offering housing search and retention support to participants, including access to community resources and transportation. YAAS is funded by HUD and is a program that focuses on solutions to youth and young adult homelessness through a community system approach.
Applicants must be between the ages of 18-24 at the time of hire to meet grant requirements
JOB TITLE: Peer Navigator(No experience required)
STATUS: Full-Time Position/30 hour work week
PAY RATE: non-exempt/ $22-$24 per hour
FRINGE: Employer paid Medical, Dental, Vision, LTD & Life Insurance. Paid Vacation after 90 days. 19 Paid Holidays/10 Paid Sick days. Flexible scheduling available
*BONUS: Currently offering a $1,000 bonus after completing 6 months on the job

HIGHLIGHTS:
●Identifies and provides participants with linkages to mainstream and community resources, including assisting with completing applications.
● Provides participants accompaniment to appointments with community-based and social service agencies.
● Provides, when appropriate and safe, transportation for the participant to and from scheduled appointments, housing opportunities, and community-based and government social service agencies.
● Assists participants and Case Manager with document pick up and drop off.
● Provides outreach and education on program services to community programs as needed.
● Conducts landlord outreach, engagement, and negotiations as necessary to support participant housing search and securement efforts.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
Expected hours: No less than 35 per week
