Job Description Summary:
What you need to know about the role:
The Business Risk and Control Lead ("BRCL") is responsible for helping manage all risk and compliance-related programs for Xoom, PayPal's cross-border transaction Business Unit.
Meet our team:
Xoom is integrated with, and rolls up to, the Blockchain, Crypto, and Digital Currencies ("BCDC") Business Unit, and this role operates within the 1st line of defense.
Job Description:

You will be a critical part of the team. You will have the opportunity to plan an important part within PayPal's BCDC team as well as interact with others who help to manage Xoom, PayPal's cross border transaction Business Unit.
Your day to day:

  • Risk identification and assessment
  • Risk and control evaluation
  • Management and resolution of issues and incidents
  • Project management and reporting
  • Lead product risk forums
  • Liaise with the 2nd and 3rd lines of defense to understand and apply risk frameworks and protocols
  • Identify product changes with associated control impacts and ensure appropriate implementation through the Product Development Lifecycle
  • Review and derive insights from key risk metrics for Xoom, interpreting the data provided through dashboards and reporting (such as reg exams, complaints, incidents, etc.) from centralized teams
  • Maintain a strong understanding of key risk management principles and PayPal products/services
  • Ability to determine when to escalate to management and identify the right stakeholders for decision making

What you need to bring:
  • 5+ years of relevant risk management experience in the payments industry, financial services, management consulting, and/or project management
  • Bachelor's and/or master's degree in risk management, business administration, economics, finance, or related field
  • Strong understanding of cross-border and cryptocurrency transactions
  • Demonstrated experience operating within and/or partnering with the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd lines of defense
  • Ability to see vulnerabilities in processes and provide recommendations
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to facilitate group discussions and run meetings
  • Ability to multitask effortlessly and manage competing priorities under demanding deadlines
  • Proven ability to learn quickly, manage projects, and drive/achieve results
  • Strong computer knowledge; excellent MS Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint skills
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable in a fast paced and dynamic environment with a high degree of accuracy
  • Operate with strong integrity and the ability to handle projects of a sensitive and confidential nature
  • Demonstrate strong and effective collaboration skills and the ability to operate comfortably within a complex cultural/global environment
  • Establish an understanding of the organization's strategic direction and objectives to articulate and embed the role of risk in enabling strategy
  • Deep, established credibility with the business to understand and communicate risks generated and impacting the business
  • Comfortable working in a consistently evolving blockchain/crypto regulatory/legal environment
