Form of workJob Description:The Wound Care Tech supports and facilitates the treatment and healing of patients under the direction of the Wound and Hyperbaric Service. The incumbent assists Physicians and other licensed providers in providing cost effective, high quality patient care.Essential Job Duties* 1. Performs clinical duties within acceptable standards of care as needed for assigned facility.* 2.
Sets up equipment and instruments and prepares patients for procedures. Performs patient care as directed and within training provided (e.g., removes dressings, applies topical therapies, applies of wound dressings). Utilizes both clean and sterile technique including NPWT applications and other procedures.* 3.
Understands and applies wound healing principles. Knowledgeable of advanced Wound Care products and technologies according to department protocols and clinician direction and demonstrates ability to apply them appropriately.* 4. Obtains ankle or brachial index and laser doppler measurements on patients under direction of ordering clinicians and department policy.* 5.
Performs intake process as specified by provider. May include chief complaint, history, vital signs, height, weight, OFC, care process model data, etc.* 6. Provides patient instruction and care as directed.* 7.
Reports changes in patient condition or other pertinent patient information to the provider or nursing staff.* 8. Participates in quality improvement initiatives (i.e., CQI, TQM, Lean, 100% participation, etc.).* 9. Assists patients with questions, directions, coordinating transportation, scheduling follow-up appointments, or arranging appointments with referral providers when needed.* 10.
Recognizes and appropriately responds to emergency situations.* 11. Assembles necessary documents and supplies. Maintains inventory of supplies by ordering and restocking as needed to ensure availability for patient care.* 12.
Utilizes computer applications as needed. Accurately documents patient history, physical, and vital information into the medical record. Maintains medical records and other relevant information.* 13.
Ensures orders for home health, durable medical equipment (DME), skilled nursing facility (SNF), etc. are completed and communicated appropriately.* 14. Assigns appropriate procedural and diagnostic coding under the direction of the provider and facilitates timely billing by completing necessary documentation.Posting Specifics* Entry Rate: $14.30 or more, depending on experience* Benefits Eligible: Yes* Shift Details: PRN/No on Call,* Location: Wound Care - Logan Regional Hospital (Logan, UT)* Additional Details: Must be able to work a flexible scheduleMinimum Requirements* Current certification as a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) in state of practice,or Current certification as a Medical Assistant (MA) in state of practice.or Current certification as an Emergency Medical Tech (EMT) in state of practice.* Current Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.* Experience with safe patient transfers.Physical Requirements:* Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.* Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.* Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy.
This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.* Expected to lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients. Will also bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment. Typically includes items of varying weights, up to and including heavy items.* Need to walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients and obtaining and distributing supplies and equipment.
This includes pushing/pulling gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items. Often required to navigate crowded and busy rooms (full of equipment, power cords on the floor, etc).* May be expected to stand in a stationary position for an extended period of time.Location:Logan Regional HospitalWork City:LoganWork State:UtahScheduled Weekly Hours:0The hourly range for this position is listed below.
