Position Summary

The Worship Leader is responsible for planning, preparing, and leading two weekly worship services that connect with both young and old generations. The Worship Leader will play a pivotal role in cultivating a worship culture at North Garland Baptist Fellowship where authenticity meets faithfulness, embodying our core value of being FAITHFUL as we consistently express our dependence on God through prayer, consumption of truth, and unwavering adherence to His teachings, ultimately contributing to the realization of our mission and vision as a family of Christ followers building God's Kingdom from Garland to the Globe. The Worship Leader must have a clear testimony of a life that trusts and believes in Jesus Christ.

Position Responsibilities

General Duties:

• Lead the congregation in worship and assist with the flow and elements of the service.
• Develop a weekly order of service in coordination with the Director of Worship and communicate it in advance to the members of the band and tech team. Currently, we use the Church Center planning app for this task.
• Direct a weekly rehearsal with the worship band and vocalists that both prepares for a quality performance on Sundays and develops new music to be introduced to the congregation in future services. The Worship Leader ultimately chooses the music, but it is important that they seek input from Pastoral leadership on song choices.
• Recruit and/or develop new musicians and singers, sufficient to carry out the weekly needs of the service and prepare for future needs.
• Seek to make connections with members beyond the worship stage, and support the vision, mission, and pastoral leadership of the church.

• Availability to provide musical support for special events for NGBF as needed.
• Availability to participate in occasional leadership meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Pastor.

Education and Experience

• Minimum of High School Diploma
• Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Three years’ experience directing Gospel Choirs preferred.
• Three years’ experience in a Worship Leader or choir director role.
• Experience using service planner-type software.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Can proficiently play an instrument in the worship band (ex: keyboard, guitar)
• Quality singing voice and engaging stage presence
• Ability to direct lead and teach vocal parts
• Team player with good relational skills and a positive attitude.
• Self-starter who strives for quality.
• Ability to energetically stand in front of the congregation and lead a minimum of 15-25 mins of consecutive worship.
• Ability to conduct one to two hour rehearsals weekly.

Notes

• The selected candidate will be required to pass a background check.
• The selected candidate must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or have authorization to work in the U.S.
• The selected candidate must be a member of NGBF or join NGBF as a condition of their employment.
