About the position
Workforce Solutions (WS) is a new global business unit that brings together all commercial services teams across HP under one leader with a goal of providing a comprehensive portfolio of compelling services and solutions to our enterprise, mid-market, and even - in partnership with our strategic channel partners - to the SMB segment. Our goal is to enable CIOs to optimize the IT experience of their workforce while balancing other business pressures of affordability and risk. HP's core strengths in personal systems and computing, printing and document workflows, and advanced collaboration solutions provide the foundation from which we will expand our services portfolio. Job Description
Fundamentally, you will direct and coordinate all the activities and deliverables required to deliver high-profile product and service customer launch events for the WS business - at a portfolio level. This coordination will span several different lines of business within WS, and span a broad range of functions - including Marketing, Sales & Channel Enablement, Product Management Teams, and potentially Engineering.
There are several aspects of this launch event management encompassed in the role. First, you will define the WS portfolio launch milestone themes - on an ongoing basis. We expect to drive at least two large launches each year (leveraging HP-wide customer and partner events), and your first job will be to define the targeted WS business themes for each of them (after understanding and determining what products and services should be included in each).
Next, you will leverage a large cross-functional Project Management Team (PMT) to ensure that all deliverables needed from each function and each business to support the customer launch event are provided on time and with high quality - to enable a successful and on-time portfolio launch event. You will not create the deliverables themselves (your partners will), but you will help define and enforce the deliverables and interim checkpoints needed for success. Similarly, you will not drive the overall release management process for the products and services themselves - that will be managed by another team. But you will partner closely with that team to leverage the established forums and checkpoints for your launch event-specific deliverables, and add launch event-specific deliverables to the broader management process checkpoints as needed.
And one of the biggest areas of need at the portfolio level is coherent and customer-centric messaging and collateral to support the launch. You will partner closely with the Marketing and Product Management teams on creating compelling themes and narratives for the launch milestones, and ensuring that customer-facing collateral and assets are aligned to those themes and narratives - rather than a disparate hodgepodge of messaging specific to each product or service in isolation.
Responsibilities

  • Manages and leads key programs involving multiple functions and program teams to drive the development and implementation process for a portfolio launch event including multiple products or service offerings.
  • Directs the development of overall program strategy, themes, customer narratives, and general program requirements for the business unit's launch events.
  • Manages activities of supporting program teams and internal and external development partners; ensures alignment with business strategy.
  • Communicates program progress, escalations, and issue analysis to business stakeholders; collaborates with business unit management and internal development partners to recommend and implement changes to products, processes, or business practices to drive continuous improvement.
  • Drives innovation and integration of new technologies, tool choices, and quality initiatives into projects and activities in the portfolio management organization.
  • Reviews and evaluates program plans and guidelines for compliance with program management guidelines and standards; provides tangible feedback to improve overall program management quality and results for the organization.
  • Lead strategic and integrated communications initiatives for the worldwide business group as they relate to the portfolio launch event milestones.
  • Be recognized as an authority and thought leader and contribute to the development and adoption of innovative principles and practices across HP.
  • Leads and provides guidance and mentoring to less-experienced staff members - to set an example of program management innovation and excellence.

Education & Experience Required
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Management, Business Administration, Engineering Project Management, or equivalent. PMP/PMI certification preferred.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Experience designing and developing project and program plans, and coordinating partners to deliver on the interim checkpoints and milestones included in those plans.
  • Experience utilizing project and program planning tools and software packages to create, manage, and track project results. Ability to create new project tracking processes and rudimentary tools to fill gaps as needed. MS Office and MS Project expertise required. Experience with Aha!, JiraAlign, Product Board, or similar tools desired.
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated business acumen, understanding of organizational strategy, and successful experience managing all aspects of cross- business unit programs, including communicating with internal and external stakeholders and directing matrixed teams and resources.
  • History of innovation with examples of developing new project management processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; mastery in English and local language.
  • Ability to effectively communicate program management architectures, plans, proposals, and results, and negotiate options at business unit levels.
  • Ability to link communications plans and activities to business results.
  • Proven experience managing, leading, driving and measuring virtual teams toward common goal.
