POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Workforce Initiatives– To develop, implement, and manage the workforce development programs and initiatives of the Rochester Chamber, including opportunities to encourage career exploration for area students through collaboration with employers, partner organizations, and the education community.

Young Professionals Program – The Workforce Initiatives & Young Professionals Director will manage and lead the Rochester Area Young Talent (RYT) Network, including the development and coordination of RYT Network events, programs, and communications. Establishing engagement, driving RYT Network membership growth, and communicating the value of RYT Network membership to Rochester area talent and employers.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Workforce Initiatives

  • Explore and implement work-based experiences for area students to encourage awareness and exploration or future career paths, including job shadowing.
  • Encourage relationships between K-12, higher education, and industry partners to create and sustain career pathway opportunities for Rochester area students, including program development.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships and communication with federal, state, and local governmental officials, including external agencies.
  • Collaborate with other local, regional, and national workforce development programs, including but not limited to public, private, education, and nonprofit.
  • Analyze, measure and track engagement in Rochester Chamber workforce programming, including professional reports as requested.
  • Provide management to the Chamber’s workforce programs and partnerships to reach organizational workforce goals, including the recruitment of students, business volunteers, and more.
  • Direct and produce Chamber workforce communications with K-12, higher education, business community and members, and organizational partners.
  • Establish and maintain ongoing communication of workforce priorities of area industry, including potential solutions and initiatives.
  • Build support and awareness of education and workforce development trends through partnerships, organized industry discussions, workshops, presentations, and media communication.
  • Represent the Chamber and business community in workforce discussions, events, boards, and councils that are key to the growth of community workforce development initiatives.
  • Partner with Public Affairs & Leadership Development Director on appropriate workforce policy initiatives
  • Budget development for workforce programs and events

Rochester Area Young Talent (RYT) Network

  • Manage the Rochester Area Chamber’s RYT Network, ensuring the program reaches strategic goals and contributes to the overall effectiveness of the Chamber.
  • Actively develop, lead, manage RYT Network initiatives and events, including but not limited to program development and coordination, participant and volunteer management, and communications.
  • Develop the RYT Network through effective partnerships and collaboration, including community, government, and industry.
  • Development and execution of a strategic sponsorship sales plan and young professional participation and recruitment plan.
  • Responsible for administration of the RYT Network. Including the processing of new applications, monthly renewals, tracking referrals, and following up on past due memberships.
  • Partner with Chamber staff and RYT Network Advisory Council to create and progress various RYT initiatives, events, and strategies.
  • Budget development for the RYT Network.

Other

  • The Workforce Initiatives & Young Professionals Director must be visible and engaged in the community, attending Chamber events and being a positive representative of the Chamber in the Rochester community and surrounding area.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of membership retention initiatives and Rochester Chamber events.
  • Other duties as assigned by the president.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

The ideal professional for this role will possess:

  • Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Experience and ability to effectively communicate with various audiences, listen, speak, write, present, and interact appropriately with individuals and groups.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with business members, including sales strategies.
  • Developing and managing volunteer engagement.
  • Knowledge of event planning and promotion.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data to identify opportunities and courses of action.
  • Strong organizational practices to ensure project timelines and standards are met.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.

Adobe CS (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign), Excel, PowerPoint, and Word experience are welcome, and will be considered when choosing the best applicant for this position.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
