Pay Range
$181,380 - $242,232 Annually
Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only. Many factors are taken into consideration when setting starting pay including education, experience, the external labor market, and internal equity.
Job Description
We're looking for aWorkforce Engagement Manager, Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. You will serve as a focal point for planning, organizing, and overseeing efforts and projects that are aimed at achieving and improving the quality, effectiveness, and timeliness of the laboratories DEI initiatives in the areas of attracting, retaining, and supporting a diverse workforce; fostering a culture of inclusion; and embedding equitable and accountable approaches to the organization's DEI Objectives and Key Results (OKRs). You will partner with the Laboratory's directorates and programs, Legal, Strategic Communications, and Human Resources to provide coordination, advice, counsel, and guidance on all aspects of DEI activities. You will also oversees LLNL's Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), providing support to leaders of these volunteer organizations. You will report to the Director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
You will
  • Provide program management leadership, operational and administrative guidance, coordination, and management of the activities within the DEI office and serve as a trusted advisor to management on developing and implementing local plans in support of achieving institutional DEI objectives.
  • Plan, organize, implement, and oversee efforts and projects that are aimed at achieving and improving the quality, effectiveness, and timeliness of program initiatives, primarily related to DEI OKRs.
  • Manage short- and long-range DEI planning activities, including multi-year work plans and the integration of subordinate projects across the institution.
  • Play a key role in the development and implementation of DEI program plans, metrics, guidelines, and recommendations, including spearheading activities for collaborations across functional lines.
  • Perform assessments, reviews, and analyze and report findings. Obtain and/or develop models for managing various DEI issues and identifies and resolve root causes and barriers to achieving goals.
  • Independently apply a broad range of DEI and quality improvement knowledge and experience to include quantitative and qualitative measurement and analysis; business case methods; application of insights from organizational case studies and DEI research; and employee or stakeholder satisfaction assessments and measurements.
  • Plan and coordinate major DEI initiatives or projects to develop or implement new systems and/or processes as well as increase internal and external awareness, engagement, and accountability, providing oversight and coordination for DEI and other LLNL staff participating in engagements and events.
  • Lead and collaborate with high-level internal and external organizations to establish and enhance partnerships and consortiums with Minority Serving Institutions and faculty, governmental, educational, and industrial and community stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the DEI Director in execution of the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU) program, the American Indian program, and the Minority Serving Institution program and activities.
  • Represent as needed or requested the DEI Director, the DEI OKRs, or the Laboratory on matters of diversity, equity, and Inclusion to external stakeholders, including leaders at DOE and other organizations.
  • Establish and maintain strong and productive working relationships between the DEI office and other LLNL organizations to accomplish institutional goals and serve as a focal point for DEI implementation and execution on activities.
  • Oversee LLNL's Employee Resource Groups (ERGs), providing support to leaders of these volunteer organizations.
  • Plan, coordinate and organize recruiting and retention efforts focused on student internship and pipeline programs.
  • Contribute to the development of content for the Laboratory's DEI annual report and other DEI communications, including the maintenance of DEI external and internal websites.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship.
  • Bachelor's or higher in a scientific, technical, engineering, or business discipline, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to delegate effectively and to lead, motivate, and build teams to work toward diversity programmatic and institutional goals.
  • Ability to coordinate and oversee successfully multiple activities, meet objectives, assure timely completion of administrative and other operational functions.
  • Advanced skills in strategy formation and execution.
  • Experience leading and/or participating in the development and implementation of engagements.
  • Expert problem-solving, decision-making skills necessary to independently advise, counsel, recommend, and develop solutions.
  • Significant experience developing and sustaining productive relationships with state and federal agency sponsors, academic institutions, and other external diverse groups.
  • Expert written and verbal communication skills necessary to interact effectively at all levels with customers, project staff and LLNL senior management.

Qualifications We Desire
  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of LLNL and DOE policies, including contractual mechanisms, legal constraints, and intellectual property guidance.

Security Clearance
This position requires a Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance. If you are selected, we will initiate a Federal background investigation to determine if you meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information or matter. Also, all L or Q cleared employees are subject to random drug testing. Q-level clearance requires U.S. citizenship.
