Summary This position is responsible for assisting with the hiring processes, programming, and coordination for the Workforce Development and Outreach team.

Programs include, but are not limited to the Apprenticeship Program, Youth Engagement Programs, such as Internships, Cooperative Learning opportunities (Co-ops), and graduate Fellowships, as well as the Career and Training Academy. This position also supports various outreach initiatives and community engagement opportunities promoting programs, positions, and career pathway opportunities at Charlotte Douglas International Airport. Work involves extensive contact with the public, colleges and universities, local high schools, students, parents, various organizations, tenant partners, and City, County, and Aviation department employees.

The candidate is responsible for assisting with program administration. Work is performed under the guidance and supervision of the Workforce Development and Outreach Manager in the Organizational and Talent Development Division of the Aviation Department; and performance is evaluated based on program goals and deliverables, feedback, and outcomes. The candidate is expected to take considerable initiative with a moderate level of discretion, approach, and scope.

Major Duties and Responsibilities Assist with maintaining records and hiring requirements for Workforce Development programs. Assist with scheduling meetings and event coordination and support. Maintain and organize written and verbal reports for programming deliverables and metrics aligned with strategic principles and both short and long-term planning.

Assist with coordinating student-focused programs and career development opportunities for the department. Work with Workforce Development, Human Resources, the Talent Acquisition, and Learning and Professional Development division managers, as well as internal department managers to identify requirements, goals, and departmental needs. Distribute student engagement and career development opportunities to both internal and external partners.

Assist with pre-screening applications and pre-hire requirements for the Workforce Development team and hiring managers. Coordinate calendar invites and attend meetings, and events for local high schools, middle schools, as well as colleges and university students who are interested in careers within the Aviation Department. Distribute promotional flyers and emails to students, CMS and surrounding county school systems, parents and partnered organizations for panels, outreach and department activity for career exploration and development.

Assist with coordinating the logistics for Workforce Development events and initiatives both internally and externally. This includes contacting employers, working with internal divisions, tenant partners, city, and county resources. Perform other duties and assignments as assigned by the Workforce Development and Outreach Manager.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Proficiency with Microsoft Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher). Skills to manage time well and keep work organized in an effective manner. Skills to prepare and present clear and concise reports, correspondence, and other written materials.

Proficiency with incorporating the use of technology to develop presentations. Ability to express ideas effectively, both orally as well as in writing. Ability to identify and analyze problems and identify possible solutions in support of established goals.

Ability to identify and effectively respond to issues, concerns, and needs. Ability to work independently as well as a team member with diverse workgroups. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other City and County departments, and the public, representing both the Airport and City of Charlotte in a positive and professional manner.

Preferred Qualification Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university is strongly preferred. Major course work should be in Human Resources, Communication, Psychology, Higher Education, Business, or a related field of study. Minimum Qualifications High School Graduate or Equivalent and three years related work experience OR Associate's Degree and one year related work experience Conditions of Employment The City's Background Check Policy requires background checks to be conducted on final internal or external candidate(s) applying for any position with the City of Charlotte.

The type of information that will be collected as part of a background check includes, but is not limited to: reference checks, social security verification, education verification, criminal conviction record check, and, if applicable, a credit history check, sex offender registry and motor vehicle records check. Background checks must be in compliance with all federal and state statutes, such as the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA). The checks must be consistent with the guidelines set forth by these laws requiring organizations to obtain a candidate's written authorization before obtaining a criminal background report, motor vehicle records check or credit report; and to properly store and dispose of information derived from such reports.
