GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
The Staff Associate for Women’s Recruiting and Academic Retention Coordinator at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy will play a crucial role in identifying and attracting talented female athletes to the institution's athletic programs, while providing support to ensure their academic success and overall well-being. This position requires a unique blend of skills related to athletics, education, and student support. The Women’s Recruiting and Academic Retention Coordinator will:
- Attend high school visits, recruiting fairs, sporting events, tournaments, and showcases to evaluate and engage with prospective student-athletes.
- Assist women’s head coaches and Assistant Director of Athletics / SWA in coordinating campus visits and tours for prospective student athletes.
- Participate and contribute to women’s athletic Recruiting and retention meetings as coordinated by SWA.
- Assist to monitor and track the academic progress of all student-athletes, offering guidance and developing individualized academic plans for them on an as needed basis.
- Collaborate with academic advisors and faculty to address academic concerns and promote success.
- Collaborate with the Event Management department to coordinate athletic camps on campus.
- Attend home game day events and perform event management duties as directed.
- Fulfill all other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics.
- Serve as a Campus Security Authority in accordance with the provisions of the Clery Act.
Qualifications and requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree.
- Ability to build relationships with high school coaches, athletic clubs, and other organizations to scout prospective student-athletes.
- Ability and willingness to travel to locations inside and outside of New England for recruiting
- Ability to clearly communicate and display data on recruiting activities in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
- This position will not hold additional coaching responsibilities on campus.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate athletic events and recruiting efforts.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion through continuous development and/or the modeling of inclusive behaviors.
- Master's degree.
- Strong understanding of NCAA regulations related to recruitment and eligibility.
- Prior experience as a NCAA Student-Athlete.
- Experience in Recruiting and advising student-athletes, preferably at the collegiate level.
- Experience or familiarity with the college admissions process.
- Experience using Front Rush, Ellucian Recruit, Slate or other Recruiting CRMs.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Salary:$60,000 to $63,000 The Academy offers generous benefits policies and a competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position is exempt under the FLSA.
