Arlo's RF/Wireless Hardware team is seeking an experienced WLAN Protocol Test Engineer to join the team. As a WLAN Protocol Test Engineer, you will perform System level testing, and WiFi feature development on embedded WLAN platforms and on firmware running on WLAN SoCs. You will deliver WLAN system level testing (Physical testing in lab & field environment), and custom WLAN protocol enhancements and features over the core 802.11 protocol. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Design, develop and debug the 802.11 MAC & PHY layers Driver and Firmware.
- Work with Hardware and System teams to design, implement, and test key wireless networking changes and features.
- Optimize WLAN to handle packet loss due to WLAN & Non-WLAN interference and packet loss due to network congestion (FIFO/Internet speed, etc...).
- WLAN PHY & MAC layer configuration verification and validation (Register setting changes).
- Channel selection algorithm for both 2.4GHz & 5GHz.
- Wireless product testing in a Controlled Wireless Environment.
- Wireless product testing in real-world conditions.
- Experience with; IXIA Chariot, Iperf, Wireshark/ Omnipeek/ Ellisys, and others.
- Collaboration and interaction with other groups (internal and external).
- Excellent communications skills and team spirit are required.
- Travel required: <10%.
- Position will require candidate to work on-site within the Arlo lab environment on a daily basis.
Qualifications:
- MS/BS 5yr applicable industry experience in EE/CS.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of wireless medium access solutions and their standards such as 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ah/ax, 802.11w, 802.11h, U-ASPD, CCA, ACS/DCS.
- Good knowledge of 802.11 protocol especially the MAC/PHY layer and whole protocol stack example UDP, TCP, etc.
- Understand the interaction between the MAC layer and other layers and be able to identify and solve potential WiFi related problems.
- Must be familiar with BRCM, QCA, Marvell, MTK and Realtek WLAN MAC & PHY Layers.
- Ability to build test systems to validate WiFi performance & features, and reproduce customer/ field issues.
- Able to analyze wireless networks, and test in real world environments.
- C programming, & scripting languages; Python, Perl a plus.

The pay range for this position reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries at commencement of employment and is expected to be between $111,400 - $175,100/year, plus equity. However, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including location, role, job-related knowledge, skills, relevant education and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including bonus, equity, and a full range of benefits.
